The reason it's in a quote box is because I wrote it earlier, so it's not directed at anybody.
Yes, I feel that as I am paying a lot more, that I have a right to have it earlier. It would be fairer if the price went down a few dollars when the standard game goes on sale, but I can't see that happening. I suppose that fits in the book example, too. The price of a hardback doesn't go down.

I think part of the price we are paying for the CE is the privilege of being one of the first people to get the game, before it goes on sale worldwide. It is truly a membership perk and if they turn around and offer both on the same day that would make me a bit irritated. I would like to know that I get something in return for being a member, and the ability to get the CE of MCF Dire Grove certainly qualifies as a definite "perk".

I hope they keep things the way they are...with the CE being offered first and the regular version at a later date. Those of us who want to pay for the privilege of getting a truly exclusive game will, and those who don't want to pay won't. Nothing against those who don't want to pay for the Collector's Edition, but in this case....membership has it's privileges.

Hmm no - I am a member and do not consider having to pay extra to get a game on release date a privelege.

the $$$ part should not be an issue with anyone. Those who are drooling in anticipation will spend the extra bucks and a lot will be happy they did. Some may end up concluding the extras were not worth the added cost. It's all a case of different strokes for different folks. I don't mind waiting for the $6.99 version and believe me that $20 is chump change in my book. I merely want a lot of you guys telling me the CE adds so much to the experience that it is a good buy. Heck, I didn't buy RTR until it was in circulation for about 5 months. The wait on that one has never diminished my appreciation for that game. To those of you expressing an opinion that BFG is flat wrong to charge extra, keep in mind that if the CE can be likened to a Mercedes, well, a Mercedes costs a lot more than a Chevy.

Yes, well I have already paid for a fleet of mercedes and have to wait 3 weeks for the delivery of a chevy!

I'll see it from the other side. If Azada 3 had a CE being released 1st December and then Azada 3 standard on 22nd December, I would wait until 22nd December as I am not bothered about Azada so much and can wait.
I didn't even know Azada 2 had been released until a few months after it had and it didn't bother me.

I think the hardcover vs. paperback analogy is a good one. Usually, I am a cheapskate and wait for the paperback to come out but sometimes there is something neat in the hardcover (author interview, color photos or maps, etc) that make the more expensive version worthwhile. Or I just want to read it enough that it is worth the extra cost.

I don't see anything unfair about it. At all. Honestly, I think that Picman is being more than fair to all of us for offering the upgrade option. While I haven't joined the Picman fan club before, I think I must now - it is really rare to see a company that cares that much about its customers Picman!

I'm not usually this blunt but there are things in this thread that are positively irritating me. Many folks posting are in bad financial situations and I'm sure that many who have decided to get the CE are going to have to sacrifice in other areas to do so. I am most likely going to be getting it for the holidays and will have to wait until then unless I can convince The Husband to give it to me early. It is almost definitely going to be my only gift (possibly even the only gift given except for the toddler). I'm not going to join your pity party - sorry.

Same. It is very irritating to express an opinion around here
I am glad for those that are happy and fail to understand why some of you think everyone should be of your mindset and why it upsets you so much if someone is not happy with Big Fish.
How does it make any difference to you?

I do not expect you to feel the same as me. However I am entitled to my opinion and how I choose to spend my money.
Why some of you want to start personal arguments over it - has me flummoxed.

i guess i am in the catagory of being in a tough financial spot, but i am not complaining about big fish offering the ce! i feel lucky enough that i will be able to get it in december and though it would be nice to have the CE i don't have to have it and don't care that i have to wait a little longer, the main point is that i will get to play it! BIG FISH is being more than fair in my opinion and does a very good job at providing a great service! and again i will say this they don't have to offer games at the low prices they do but big fish does!

and i will add that i am excited for the ones that can get the CE

I don't see anyone attacking BFG's, just expressing an opinion/concerns. I like the idea Poppa suggested and then Picman seconded. I think that's fair if people want an upgrade because they enjoy the game they can do so for the difference in cost. You never know there could be a secret Santa around here too with a couple gift certificates.

grovegril, are you addressing your comments to me?

I wasn't addressing mine specifically to you. Personally, I don't care how you (or anyone else) choose to spend your money or whether or not you like BF.

I'm going for the CE. I have read quite a few of the posts and agree with the people who say BFG is great to offer this. To pay $19.95 to me is no more than ordering from other sites that charge this as a regular price or others who charge as much as $29.95 or more for some games. I have bought many games over the years here and from online stores and such places as Walmart for instance. If I want the game bad enough at the time, I pay the price. Thanks Picman for this game and to have my choice. BFG is the greatest site on the net.
This is my opinion only.

That is a good thought Fairy .. but since you can't use credits, I wonder if you can gift the CE game??

Hey those in the know ... Will one be able to gift the CE game????

As far as the upgrade? nope - unless it has a 2 games worth of extra levels why would I pay double the price, unable to use my credits, already waited until december, to get it? That makes no sense to me.

Nope, you can't gift the CE game. Gifts are by credits only and this is buy-only.

The way I see it is are still keeping their promise by offering a new game every day at the $6.99 advertised. Yep it's not Dire Grove but they never said it would be. They have always stated a rough estimate when the actual game would be availabe so haven't hidden it from us.

I will be buying the CE edition but it will a day after everyone else because thats when payday falls for me but hey that's life. It's all about freedom of choice and at least are giving you that choice.

I think Poppa's idea is a great one for those who are unsure what to do. Let's hope Picman can make it happen

OK! Now that I've read that Picman will make upgrades to CE possible, my decision is made. I'll buy the $6.99 version and upgrade if I want when that option becomes available.

Thanks Poppa for making the suggestion and...

Thanks Picman for listening.

Anyone who doubts the value of belonging to Big Fish, try getting this attention at any other game site. Not gonna happen.

Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy

I just wonder what the extra content is all about.... If it involves some computer backgrounds and a strategy guide than it may not be worth the extra 13 bucks.... However, if it has more in terms of game play than I would be more willing to buy it-- particularly since I have a couple of days off for the holiday..... Is there a place where I can find specific information? Thank you!

Also, I just blew my credit on Dr. Lynch (is this a good game?-- It looks scary and got some good reviews), but I do think that it would be nice to have a deal where the 6.99 credit can be applied towards the total purchase. That way people who have credits built up can spend them on something that they really want to play.....

the information is rather sketchy regarding the game play - there is not a definitive answer or how many extra levels or how many extra puzzles - just that it is in addition to and separate from the regular edition. Even the quote that sunfish is pointing out really isn't very specific in this regard.

gove, to keep the auto analogy going ( and I am not in any way trying to take you down) . At the regular $6.99 price we have all bought Chevys and sometimes we buy used beat up old VW's ( those are the $2.99 daily deals ) Now BFG has gone to more expense to create a Mercedes and since the company does not want to take a financial loss on the luxury car, the price is commensurate with the product. owes its gamers nothing but to continue being a fine place to play, chat and shop. For every $$ any of us has spent, be it large DOLLARS, or small ones, we have all gotten what we paid for, no more, no less. I understand Gove's point full well. I am personally taking the attitude that I do not want a Mercedes, but I am willing to wait a few weeks for the new model of Chevy that still hasn't left the factory.
Later on, I might just trade in the Chev and replace it with the Benz.
