I demoed this game and really liked it. I am not a poker player so I really didn't know what I was doing, but I loved the characters. Very clever, good graphics and just plain fun. I might just have to learn how to play cause I enjoyed the hour.

Great game. If you liked the first part from Governor of Poker, you will like this one too. I am normally not much into Pokergames, but I will buy it because my friend loves also Pokergames. Thanks

Great game with a lot of depth. They start you off with a tutorial that explains the basics of poker. Game has a western theme, you are working to overcome the poker ban the governor has placed on the city. You can acquire homes which earn rent for you and play in tournaments (you must place at least 3rd in order to earn stars). There is a bank you may take loans from if you end up poor. The characters are lively and the game takes it a step further as some players will get steamy (mad!) or start sweating profusely (you know they are nervous - maybe a bluff or a great hand). You have the option to be a little cocky yourself by flipping your chips between turns, choosing whether to reveal your cards or not when you've won a round. Game can be difficult as the players are good. One thing I LOVE about this game is that you can always see a summarization of your hand at a glance (the game provides a chart that shows you what your cards form (including the river). Even when you fold out of a hand, the game tracks what you would have had had you stayed in. Great addictive gameplay. This one is really well done.

I love this game. There is so much more interaction then in the last game. I loved being able to play poker on the train. I won a couple of times, and it gave me the money to buy up the next town. I can't say enough about it, it is awesome.

I was really excited about this game. Had no hesitation in purchasing it. Character's are great. Everything is great but in the long run, it's just another "fold & skip" fest just like the first one. The only way you can win is just fold & skip till it's down to you & one or two other players. They've improved A LOT but the actual poker game play? No improvement. Don't waste your time and money purchasing this one. It looks good but gameplay-wise, hasn't improved from the 1st one.

Once again, everytime you fold, you get it thrown in your face you should've played it out...everytime you play it out, you lose! Terrible poker AI and randomization. Just designed to keep you playing the game. I don't like this game at all!

Bluesriley, 4 of your 11 posts are back to back slams on this game?

Why would you SPAM the boards with consecutive threads? If you hate the game so much, why are you devoting so much time to it? You've said your peace - there is no need to pollute the forum with ONE PERSON'S negative opinion.

I haven't had any trouble with this game. I own everything, except the railroad. It will be mine, before this night is over. I even won $62,000 and the secong half of my green star. I one first place. I found that allot of them fold their cards, when you call their bluff. I love this game sooooo much. Playing for the stagecoach is a hoot.

Spam? Wow! Never considered myself a "spammer" but ok...No. I really love the
G.O.P. games but they make it extremely difficult to win against a lot of the opponents. It's a little excessive at times, especially in the early stages of the
game. I've BOUGHT the game. I've given all the money I can possibly give. So
why does it have to be so impossible to win?
I know I'll beat it eventually, but seriously. There's a lot more game left here! I'm
still playing it!
And really, if you're such a gamer, why are you wasting your time ripping on me
about how often I post?
But, please, if you're such an expert on this kind of thing, explain to me what
exactly the etiquette of posting is here. I didn't realize there was a limited number
of posts in a certain amount of time that you're allowed before you're considered
a "spammer".
By the way, did you mean "piece" instead of "peace"? Ya kinda threw me off there.
Someone of your obvious intelligence talking about my "peace" when there is
absolutely no reason for you to do so! If you're gonna rip on somebody, make sure you got yourself in check first!

No, this is the Standard Edition. I don't know why didn't get the Collector's Edition. I would have purchased it because you get extra cities. But, oh well, I bought this one because this is what they offered. Once I beat it, I might have to go to another site for the Collector's Edition.

I was one of the beta testers for this game, and all I can say is, everything is well done and gets 5 stars with the exception of "gameplay", which is simply atrocious. I for one, do not like playing with a bunch of "cheaters", which is what the poorly developed and implemented AI players are. I let them know this when I reviewed their game after testing it. I told them that they needed to just deal the standard deck of 52 cards and for everyone (AI players and myself), to play to the best of their abilities with the occasional "bluffs", of course. Pretty simple and fair!

But no, they have to program the game with pre-determined winners. Whatever "lucky seat" that internal flashing bulb stops on when the dealer is about ready to deal, becomes the "lucky winner"... or however the incompetent programmer set it up. Basicaly, the AI already knows what seat(s) are going to win or split a pot before the first card is even dealt. Stupidity at it's best!

I still purchased the game and it's "tons of fun", as long as you can learn to be patient and "fold and skip" until the AI players are down to 2 or 3, as already mentioned in numerous other posts.

GOP 2 is a huge improvement over GOP 1 in most every aspect of the game. "The AI gameplay" being the one true area that truely sucks! Perhaps next time (pipe dream), the developers will actually listen to us, the game players. There's always hope for GOP 3.... but don't bet on it! Hmm... maybe they should consider calling their next game instalment "How Not To Play Poker"

Even though I'm not much of a poker player, I am enjoying this a lot more than the first GOP. I have some credits coming so it is a buy for me.

I have played the Superstars of Poker 2 & 3 and this is more entertaining.

I have played a lot of poker games, and this is the most pathetic I have ever seen. Except for the animation, it is no better, and in many ways worse, than the game that taught me Texas Hold'em back in the 90s. Every other poker game I've seen has a way to get suggestions on how to play the hand you're holding, but not this one. Even worse, it is buggy. I just lost to two pair while holding a flush. And I have a screen shot showing me winning with a flush while the opponent had a straight flush. There are other bugs, probably associated with compatability issues with Vista. If I adjust the sound in any way, it just goes off completely and doesn't come back on until I exit and restart. If I change the window mode, the pointer points to the wrong option.

I concur on lots of points made - it IS a fun game in spite of itself - but yes...it is mostly a case of "fold and skip"...however - there are ways you can play & build up some $ before the final 4 or 3...

It SEEMS it is a matter of if you fold you shouldn't have - if you play you shouldn't have - but (at least in The Garter - where I am now...I'm going slooow) this isn't really the case. It's counterintuitive poker at least some tables - i.e. back to The Garter - you will NEVER get a flush - not ever. But it's hard to resist betting on a King/Ten on suit - don't fall for it at that table. You WILL get lots of straights and full houses at the Garter (more straights) - so you're better betting on five/six or 8/9 off suit. Normally hands you'd fold.

In Amarillo you get flushes - so on suit is good to play...

I'm sure this theme carries & varies in each tournament

Again - yes - the "best" thing is fold/skip - but keeping tabs on what kind of winning hands you're likely to get in each tournament gives you a chance to play a few hands while waiting for the end of the game
