Unfortunately there are those who play the Hammer Way - I have come across them, but this is the exception not the rule!!! You learn who they are & it's your choice whether or not to play them, or anyone for that matter.
Majority of us play with our honor, and those who play more are better. I get my behind beaten plenty of times, but if I don't keep going I will never get to their speed.
Guild members are not cheaters - they are a group of players who unite for a common goal.
Sorry you have a sour taste in your mouth - maybe due to a bad experience

faery,
so sorry you and others are being attacked for the way you play. your info has always been so helpful and you are one of the most caring neighbors I have. your support of everyone when they need it is wonderful especially with all you have going on with yourself personally. we all play our own way but I know you are not a cheater. know I support you and the way you play.

thanks tdskm. That was sweet. Not sure what that was all about. But hey, I am now a catfish! Guess I am a bottom feeder now! Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but there are appropriate ways that it can/should be expressed in a public forum.

With the recent comment from a player about thinking they had joined our guild, I just wanted to post a reminder. When you send a request to join a guild, sometimes the game allows you to post in the guild chat. We are unsure of why this happens.

My personal theory is that everyone who requests to join a guild is actually able to make a post or two to introduce themselves and say why they want to join, but that most players do not attempt to post. (Many probably don't even know it's there!)

With that said, here is a synopsis of how Room Raiders go about the addition of players. What we value is someone who will join to be a part of the team, playing in competitions regularly is a requirement. That seems to be why guilds exist, after all.

In addition, we appreciate that the player makes an effort to communicate with all guild members via the guild chat. You don't need to tell us your life story (although we love it when you do!), but knowing that you have real life commitments that might hinder your play over the course of a few days makes a difference to how players feel when they see you're not putting in any points.

I cannot recall at what point I started accumulating enough pearls to play comps regularly, but I suspect I was over 100. If you are a lower level player, you won't have enough energy to play rooms for very long, thus your pearl accumulation will be much lower.

Room Raiders are a democracy, the guild leader has changed many times since I joined and it has now fallen to me. I may be the one who clicks the button to accept someone, but I don't make the decision alone. We all discuss potential new members and decide how to go forward.

If you have a Room Raider in your neighbourhood and you would like to join us, send a message to the player in a PM. That way we can know something about you to help us make a decision!

An important thing to keep in mind is that as soon as you open a room, it will start showing up in comps. So even if you never played it, you will have it showing up!

Edit: And you're most welcome!

A good way to dip your toe in the comp waters is start on the day that the award is for participation. These are every other day. Even if you completely tank, you will still earn some great gadgets! This will give a feel of what they are like, build some confidence and earn goodies. Once you gain experience, you will be able to progress to the days that the award is for winning as well.

that's a great idea- thank you- I have been interested in doing comps, but didn't want to screw up some team's efforts by not being able to find the stupid sugar bowl or conductor's wand in the library- or the glasses in the study! I have begun to get used to where things might be, but then they change ( like the globe is all of a sudden teeny tiny on the table and I'm looking everywhere for the big one

comps first try

[Post New]by uptownnola on Jan 25, 16 7:37 AM
ok then, so i did one for participation- and there were several things they asked for I have never even seen! I know there are 25 items per room? I haven't gotten to the & or the canary in the dungeon ever....but at least I got my feet wet- no pun intended- in the dungeon...

Great job uptownnola! Comps are a great way for beginners to spend time while waiting for energy to refill and to get the extra gadgets and goodies. Like today, the reward is lamps and all you have to do is participate 15 times.

Like faery said, great job uptownola! All the rooms in comps are played at the top level, Grand Master, so it will help you to play each room you have open up to that level. But keep getting your feet wet! It's a challenge.

It will also help if you grit your teeth and play the different ghosts rather than just chase them away - in comps, you don't have that option.

Good luck.

paying for pearls

[Post New]by uptownnola on Jan 26, 16 6:49 PM
WHEW- I just finished 15 rounds of comps to get the prize of the day- the special heat magnifying glasses- came across a lot of things I still don't know that's for sure- I was clicking on the leafy plant in the back of the cellar for cat's paw- cause that's what we call that kind of invasive ivy stuff, but obviously not what they meant heading back into the archives of the forums to read about the green halos and all that
dixons1- kind of like ROM imitates life- it's all time and money I guess, and today I had time, tomorrow gotta go work to make money! Thanks for all the great gifts etc- working my way up to level 20 !

Listen to what Afspams says, I was so embarrassed by thinking I was part of that group! I still want to join that guild!

dixons1, may I suggest you send a pm to afspam. Tell her a little about yourself, how you play the game, what you enjoy about comps....She can then take it to her guild mates and regardless how it turns out, I am certain she will send you a reply and an explanation...Each guild plays differently, so finding the right guild for you is just as important as the guild finding the right mates....She will be able to tell you their expectations, etc. And then you will either get accepted, or she will have a grasp at what you are seeking and point you to a guild that is right for you. Win win all the way around! afspam is a wonderful neighbor so I feel I can say this with confidence that one way or another, she will help you.

Many guilds prefer to communicate with potential new members prior to adding them into their guild. This is because many guilds have different expectations for participation and guild chat, so clarifying those expectations before joining a guild help each player find a guild that is a good fit. Because the request system does not have a chat feature, the alternatives are in-game messages (if you are in a guild member's neighborhood) or pm via the forum (guild members may search for your username to send you a pm if you apply). Interested new members can be proactive in communicating with guild(s) they are interested in by initiating communication with guild.

To find out which of your neighbors are in which guild, go to the same place where you would normally apply for a guild (for those who don't know: you can click on the social tab in the bottom right of your screen (little gold man) and then the top icon that pops up (G) for guilds. A popup with four icons then appears on your screen, and if you click the second tab Friends' Guilds). Instead of clicking on 'send', hover over the character to see which of your neighbors is in that guild, or click on that character icon to see the entire list of members of that guild. If you see a neighbor you have had a good relationship with, a pm to that neighbor about your interest would be a great way to begin learning about that guild and its expectations.

Good luck to all interested in guilds and comps! They can open up a new feature of the game that for some of us is the main reason we continue to play ROM. See you in comps
