GUY’S MIGHTY ADVENTURES
One day in Heaven, God was worried. It came to his attention that a family that lived high in the Blue Ridge Mountains were doing poorly and needed Devine intervention. His problem was that he was in a quandary as to how to approach the issue.
Pacing back and forth, turning idea after idea over in His mind, He heard a sound that rattled his teeth every time he heard it!
“Ach, its Guy, what is the matter now? He never seems to be satisfied or happy and this is Heaven! Being here should suffice!”
Inwardly groaning God turned around slowly and presented Guy with his most Fatherly expression.
“Good day, Guy, and how are you this fine day?”
“Oh fine, Lord, but I must admit because I can not tell a lie being in Heaven after all, and to You Lord, ummm….”
“Guy, why don’t you just come out with what’s on your mind. After all you have been here long enough to know I don’t bite!”
“ummm….yes Lord, you see it’s like this…I am bored! Everything is so perfect here there is nothing to fix, to paint, to weed…”
“Yes, yes I get the idea Guy. Let me think on this for a bit and I will see what I can come up with.”
“Oh, oh thank you Lord! That would be marvellous.”
The joy that spread Guy’s face as he ran to a cloud a little distance away could have lit up three city blocks.
Minutes later God called out to Guy.
“Guy, how would you like to go on a mission for me back on earth?”
Smiles wreathed the angels face as he wondered what great adventure God had in store for him.
“Yes! Yes, Lord!”
“This is what I would like you to do. I have a family that are doing poorly lately and slowly they are becoming depressed. Now with Christmas just around the corner we can not have that now can we? So I am sending you back to earth to bring my message of joy to this family.”
“Great Lord but there is just one itty bitty problem. I have no human body anymore.”
“Oh that’s already been taken care of. I have chosen this lovely dog that you can take ownership temporarily while you do Our work.”
“A dog! Did you say DOG! Woof, woof dog, Lord?”
“Why yes Guy. You know I love all my creatures equally and this one has a very special place in my heart. If you don’t want this mission I can easily find another Angel.”
“No Lord! I’ll do it!”
Next thing Guy knew he had a shiny fur coat and was loping up the mountain side. He was so grateful for all the sounds and smells he missed he forgot he was a dog.
