pinkjacket wrote:Hi everyone - I just finished playing JCE and LOVED it. I like Adventure Large File games and before playing JCE I played Syberia and Syberia II - loved those as well.
I also admit to using a walkthrough (at times) I guess this game has been out for several years but here it is July 09 and I just found it. Hope readers can suggest more games like this. However I tried the Spinx series but wasn't fussy on the way the game played ... it kept 'sticking' so I scrapped it. So please, suggest other adventure games like JCE or Syberia. Thank you.
Hi, pinkjacket! Try Nostradamus - nice game.
Return to Mysterious Island is great but you'll probably have to use walktrough most of the time . It's not bad to use walktrough, they can be useful but do not be afraid of trying figure out things by yourself. It's not fun if you all the time useing walktrough. You play game because you want to get some fun. How can it be fun if you use cheats?
I liked Syberia 1 and 2 too. Journey to the Centre of the Earth is ok. Nothing special but ok. Ariane has a lovely face.

The ball puzzle is random. You really only know you've got the correct ball by its inventory description (light / unique).
1 2 3 4 : 5 6 7 8 .... if the scales balance, the lightest must be in 9 10 11 12
If one of the pans of 4 is higher, the lightest must be in that pan.
You should be able to work out what to do - 4 / 2 / 1 balls per pan - after that.
You have to reset after the 1st and 2nd weighing, but not after the 3rd.

JCE is a typical search and hunt game , one of those that you check every wall every nook every cranny for "hot spots" I played it about a year ago and thought it was great ,, a few spots were a tad confusing , but all in all it was not very hard ..All of the puzzles are common sense, and some can be a bit repetitious as you "error" but all in all it kept me amused for a week or so playing when I felt like it ..I never used a walkthrough, but then I never do and I sure is not no game genius by any sort.. I found Voyage way more difficult , Syberia and Syberia 2 were also excellent linear games similar to this one, They were about the same difficulty.. Simple tip on all these games ,, if you move to a new area automatically "save" at that point and do so each and every time.. This way you can always go back one notch and not have to start the whole game over again.. I guess there are numerous walkthroughs, try gamezebo or gameboomers all those sites have walkthroughs that are printable.. That is if you need it.....

I will try to help you guys, first of all click on the bottom of your screen, all of the stuff you pick up will be there.Push your esc button to get out of the game.
This will take you to a place where you can save, load, options ,start or exit.
When you first land and the chopper get ruined by boulders, just click on every thing.Pick up the blade at the front of the chopper, click the bottom of your screen and it will be there, use it to open the chopper door, once in,click on everything in there, you will pick up a bag it will say use on it, push the use button. You will then have more stuff, use the screwdriver to get the first aid box, once again push the use button on it,and you will have yet more stuff.Hope that helps, that is as far as I have gotten,Oh use the blade on the rock in front of the cave,(a pair of feet will show up where you can more to).You won't be able to leave just yet, as I said that is as far as I got, there is something else you have to do before you can leave.
Any one else out there know any more....HELP

size][size=18]Just finished Journey to the center of the Earth, and had fun and at time was a bit irritated because of the glitches in the game. But in all wow what a game!
The cut scenes are breath taking and the plot is very nice.
But the biggest issue I had with this game was the floating island. It was impossible to play, and after a lot of research I found out that in the download version of the game this puzzle is already solved, so no need to break your head over it, you can just skip it. A bit of a shame because it looked intriguing,so don't waste any time over it.
It is a long game with a lot of puzzles, walking and talking, but no complaints here since this is a true ad venture. Have fun playing!!

You can use the Esc key on the keyboard to go back to the starting spot and exit from there. That's all I can help you with.
