There are two good things about this game - it is a HOG and it is on Felix's List.
I struggled through the first two scenes and quit. I had to turn off the lights so I could see something, anything, in the first scene. Then I had to turn on the lights to use Alex's computer. I needed the light to find my own keyboard so I could do the "search". "Server not found" would have been funny but I was far from the mood by the time I got to that.
Teeny tiny items hidden in the dark - a BIG NO for me!! Where did we leave that Clown Bus?
Did anyone seriously see that tiny paperclip in the ceiling vent? What is a "True"? I found the "True" by clicking all over the rooftop scene. I never saw it and have no idea what it was. I found several items by clicking all over. That is another good thing (I guess), seems to be no penalty for a "Click Fest".
The Timer seemed incredibly slow recharging. Maybe that is because I needed Hints to find these things.
This is a detective story so I suppose there is not much hope of there being any bright scenes There seems no hope at all that objects will get larger.
This game gets from me. I am really disappointed because HOGs are my favorite type of game and I also need 3 more games to get a keychain. If I break down and buy this it will be for the keychain only. I really must have a talk with Felic about his favs. This game is a BFG Exclusive!

to cher, bella, and saw ~ hi guys ~ i had same problem at least i assume it's the same
first time installed i got message box popup (at the very end of the install process)to install "Microsoft Visual C++ redistribution" and i thot, hah i'm ignoring that i shouldn't need it, never had a need for it before, so chose to cancel THAT part of the install, the game continued to install but then when i clicked to play ... same as you guys, nothing
thot about it a bit, hhhmmm do i really want to install this MS thing (Visual C++ is a programming language, and i assume the 'redistribution kit' is so the game can be shared with 1000's of users, but why it should be needed to be done this way is anybody's guess, never needed it for anything else ) then decided yeah i wanted to try the game that bad, lol, and if it messed things up it should be easy enough to get rid of, in fact it should uninstall with the game uninstall if that's what i end up doing (but it probably won't!)
so went ahead and uninstalled the game, reinstalled and did the install of the Visual C++ when the msg came up on the new install, and yep after that the game works fine
don't know how you all have your puters set up, the popup option to install the MS program might have been blocked or something? just a thot, if you can't run game and don't get the msg about the MS program, i'd contact support about it
have only played 10 mins or so, but so far i'm liking it, prob use a credit on it

Sorry for my comment, but this game sucks!!!!
First:
My graphic card doesn´t like this game.
Had played so many HOGs and the most (95%) works wonderful, included such with many video sequences.
This game needs 20! min to load to the first screen. After starting two times again, because of doing nothing but showing the screen
It´s as lame as a snail in hibernation!
Second:
The screen is too dark, many objects are very hard to find.
And l have good eyes!
Third:
The dialogues are very boring and a constant repetition.
All what is said, you can say in one sentence.
Gave up and uninstalled after half an hour!
So: if you could give five for a good game, l will give five for this one.

I'm with the group on this one. Slow loading (although not 20 mins for me), didn't like the c++ coming up there. Never saw that before. Installed it though as I figured the game needed it.
Anyway, have the developers NOT been listening to us?
You either get impossible to find items (a pack of cigarettes was a red strip with a white strip and some illegible letters), or too easy to find.
Rooftop scene: flashlight... It's on the building across from where you are. Even with using TWO hints, I couldn't find it. Just click click click til it came off. All I could see was a light. Not the thing making the light. Maybe it should have said flash OF light.
I should have known when I read scotcats review that I wouldn't be able to play this game. She said it was challenging so I should have known it'd be impossible for me.
The picture puzzle: Would have been nice if it'd said right click to rotate pieces. I figured this out cause I've done these kind before, but not everyone knows this little info. Kind of important you know.
I'm sure there are many who enjoy this game and have little trouble. I'm not one of them. So Felix Fave or not, I'll not be getting this one.
Ah well, there's always tomorrow!

Hey Edna, good to hear from you. Scotcat and her crowbars, GinaBean and her monkeys, ahhh, those were the days, lol.
How are you enjoying this game? I am liking it so far, only about 45 minutes in, but I think it's a keeper.
I agree with Poodle that figuring out what item they are talking about is adding to the "charm".
I am excited to hear Cate West is coming. I liked the first one and have had heard good things from Beta testers about it.

karsten, wouldn't it be nice if there were a "map" of sorts to let you know how much further you have to go?
For me of course, the game would take MUCH longer than two hours. It took 20 minutes just to get to the part after the
(invisi-ink, please highlight) apt blew up! And that was using hints!

Yes I agree with you about the map, but maybe the authors deliberately avoided it for the reason of the not allowing us to see how short the game really are. LOL

bribling wrote:I got that Visual C message too. I have no need for that so declined. The game installed fine and works with no problem (unless you count objects being too small and scenes being too dark). I am using a PC with Vista and all the latest updates (I think). You should never have to install Visual C to play a game, this is some sort of error.
hi bribling, i thot so too, that i shouldn't need to install, but game wouldn't work without it
i run XP (also with all necessary updates) likely that's the difference, vista prob had the code built in
