NEW UPDATE REVIEW

[Post New]by cptrosakelly on Nov 22, 15 9:24 PM
Wow!!! Saw the new update to the game and I'm not liking it much. I am a bit disappointed that they changed how we upgrade our buildings. Now we need runes to upgrade, which would be bad except it takes forever to get the runes. Now you can get them filling the request and through your balloons, but the balloons take forever to come back and the request use up masses amounts of resources and again don't reward much in the way of runes, and with the amount of things that need runes. I'm really not feeling this change was a good one and am slowly losing interest in a game that I really really liked.

Not sure why you fixed something that wasn't broke, but unless you increase a means to earn runes a bit faster, this game is going to become boring quick. I guess what made this game fun is the continuous play. Now you dont have that. I guess another game bites the dust.

If I was rating this the first few levels I would have given it a 5. Overall at level 39 I give it a 2, at best. If you go by time I spend playing the game now versus a couple weeks ago, a more realistic assessment is probably 1. Here's why:

1. Pearls disappear. You cannot close a window by tapping on it like every other game and app. If you do, you spend pearls. I've wasted probably 50 pearls with my automatic attempts to close a window. This being a universal problem, why don't the developers give us a confirmation window? Probably because they want us to waste pearls so we spend real money buying more? Not nice.
2. Pace slows waaaaay down to a crawl at several levels...gets terrifically boring. Game should increase in difficulty, but not to the point that we give up. Pace should remain reasonably level throughout the game.
3. Many many magical stones are now required but acquiring them is very difficult.
4. With so many things required to be manufactured for the balloons so you can get a pitiful few (and wrong colored) stones, it is extremely difficult to build up gold coins, and those are needed (in huge numbers!) to buy equipment for making other things that are asked for. I'd like to be able to sell more things in the market for gold, but I can't even keep up with the balloons.
5. Building up magic level is cumbersome and too slow. Seriously...one has to increase magic level several thousand points by upgrading one 10 point window at a time??? Requiring magic stones each step? Crazy.

Suggestions:
1. Give us a confirmation window for pearl expenditures.
2. Give the game a more even pace as you progress.
3. Make magic stones available in the mine or at least easier to acquire.
4. Make fixable things (fences, walls) more obvious and the building repairs more valuable.
5. Consider fewer requirements for balloon and people requests...many of those things take a long time to make.

My second review after 4 weeks play:

I'm grateful that there are no more false alarms for friends needing help. I'm disappointed that we still don't have the tool to prevent wasting pearls, all we need is confirmation.

I've reached level 49, never got stuck or bored, actually happy with the pace of the game. I find it easy to acquire magic stones. I do almost all trades with islanders, and send my 3 balloons as often as I can, then use the alchemist if I'm lacking a higher level stone. I could have leveled up faster but I didn't want to have more variety of goods before I could expand my storage. I keep a stock of 3-4 of every item I can produce, to be ready for the next balloon or trade. This helps to have a continuous flow in my game.

I would prefer having some quests with attractive rewards rather than opening more areas, I would love to know about some characters, see how the story develops around them through these quests. This would make the game more interesting for me and keep playing for a longer time.

Overall I liked the experience so far, I hope there are plans to surprise us with more interesting features.

Boring and far too expensive. Even farmland costs money. Takes to long to upgrade magic limit to progress. Not bothered to wait till level 35 and not wasting time any longer. Township by far better and progress is made without spending a fortune. Bigfish should know better. If and when game developers decide to make it more fun, perhaps I will play again. But for now, I am out. ?

Quite enjoying the game thus far but I am so over these icicles. To the point I am ignoring them but oh wait I can't cause I have to clear them off all the time. I sell all the toys I get for honestly after the sleigh there is nothing. I actually thought come Xmas day they would turn into some nice presents but no.....

Other than that it is a struggle to get the required amount to clean up the next bit of land but that to me is half the fun. Keep up with sending balloons out, sending the diver down and full filling some orders does not take long to get the runes needed.

I just want to know what comes after that, when is the next underwater part going to be opened for us. I can see myself getting very bored with the game once I have this last big worm out of the way and nothing to aim for.

No confirmation button

This game uses pearls as its currency yet does not employ a confirmation button for spending this precious commodity. [Removed by Moderator]

Overall, the game is fun. If you're very patient, you don't have to spend a penny. Of course most people aren't I'm level 91 at present as proof.

The latest update (new castle) looks fun, but the times to do things is getting a bit much. Like others, I think making basalt blocks and the stargazer tower timers are waaaayy to long. It kind of detracts from the fun.

Apart from that 8/10. Thanks for a fun game. [Removed by Moderator]

PS: Please make the basalt chip storage like the ice chrystals so our storage isn't hogged.

I have enjoyed playing this game. Overall I think the game is well constructed with few problems. I have read many concerns about the length of time it takes for certain activities to happen. The times are much longer than is typical on most games I have played. There is a fine line between making the game challenging and making it too difficult. The programmers went too far with the time limits on making blocks for the palace. They also listened to the many complaints and responded in a timely manner.

I recognize the purpose in most of the features of the game but am truly puzzled by the Panda Bears. There seems to be no reason for having these creatures in the game. The cost to stage a dance off is extremely high for the rewards it offers. In hindsight I wish I hadn't purchased the pandas.

I'm curious where we will go next.

Out of 10 I give this game a 1. It is slow and extremely expensive which ultimately will cause the game to loose participants. [Removed by Moderator] The basics needed to advance are difficult to obtain as the balloons are slow and the items required to manufacture goods are ridiculously expensive. This is not a game with longevity due to expense and boring slow progress. I have persisted to level 42 but now there are not enough to stones to progress and the targets are far too high. [Removed by Moderator]Sorry big disappointment.

PS:

a wiki page would be fancy, where people can see things, like:
* what can be unlocked at what level
* ingredients for recipes
* ingredients for upgrades
* costs of products and machines
* production/growing times

etc etc I 'd do it myself, but I'm level 59 now and not willing to start all over again

Yes, that would be great!

First of all, thanks for the tip - I won't waste my "currency" on those then. And also, I second this fully - I do not see how the Panda Bears bear any relation to the story. Even if you BigFish people were thinking dancing bears would be a fun feature - why Pandas?? Are they known for being particularly good dancers? Oh my.
What I like about this game is that it has the "magic" and "witchery" story. Don't spoil it by introducing formula 1 next, please. :-)

I'm enjoying the game, but one thing is likely to make me quit - the kroks. You need magic for so much it is hard enough to get enough then along come the kroks and you have to use nearly all of your magic to get rid of them. Grrr!

I like the game in general and I am willing to be patient to make progress. I love the graphics and the characters. While I would like to be able to find specific friends, I have been able to assemble quite a list of them.

But I have two criticisms which have made me virtually stop playing.

I have probably lost 100 pearls to accidental actions. Previous experience with big fish has taught me that if I complain, I will be asked for before and after screen shots, which is ridiculous because I cannot "anticipate" losing them. And I have never received a refund for lost gold or pearls from big fish because I am apparently not able to prove it? It is obvious how pearls are lost, and how it could be fixed. I develop apps myself. If the game developers are not putting in a confirmation for spending pearls, it isn't because they can't do so fairly easily.

The other issue is the rune stones. They are just too hard to get. 8 hours to wait for one balloon, which brings one rune, and I reached the level where all upgrades need runes to some extent. I bought pearls specifically to buy a balloon and within 5 minutes I lost 25 of them in some mysterious way I could not figure out, and I seemed to get nothing in return.
