I haven't played this game yet and I didn't beta test it. I don't get what all the bashing is about. If you have ever read any of these fairy tales at any point in your existence then you would notice a correlation between them and these games. DP has stayed pretty much on point with the true fairy tales written by the Brothers Grimm. Maybe those that are saying that these story lines are far fetched need to go back and re-read them again. Not the sweetness and light ones but the ones by the Brothers Grimm. Those are the real fairy tales. As for the graphics, remember that these games were probably done before Windows 10 came into play and you may need to make the proper adjustments. The beta is just that a beta which means it's not fully ready for market yet. The finished project is always much better. Dark Parables is one of the best game series I have ever played and I am hoping that there will be another one after this one.

I'm pretty on the fence about this one.

Plot wise, I liked it. Kept me up until 4 in the morning so I could finish the game. Still has the FHOS which is the signature of BTG. Story wise, it still was very much Blue Tea Games which I appreciate. On the other hand...I was not impressed with the graphics in this game. Before Eipix, the DP games were known for their graphics porn, because god knows I spent a long time looking at some of those scenes and sighing because they were just that pretty.

Ever since Eipix have become developer though, or at least a co-developer, i have been very disappointed with the graphics. Nowhere near as lovely as BTG and they're hard on the eyes. I had to keep referencing back to the guide to find those stupid snowflakes because they were just that hard to see.

On that note, I wasn't too impressed with the collectibles either. I always preferred the morphing objects, they were more of a challenge to me. Especially since they weren't always available the first time you went to a new location, but had to trigger an event to cause them to appear.

TLDR; Story was good, graphics not so much. Please, can we just have Blue Tea Games be the sole developer of these games again?

Based on playing the entire game. I own every one of the Dark Parables games. The quality is no where near that of the Frog Prince.

Some of the mini-games made no sense and there were no instructions or help. You can just click the "SKIP" button to get past it, but even watching the game play out, I had no clue on why the computer was making the moves it was.

The fragmented HOS were not as difficult as earlier games, but by changing the color of items or making them so small as to be unrecognizable, I had to use the hint button way too often.

The story line was confusing and hard to follow and a lot of questions remained unanswered. It looks like the developers just decided the game was long enough and ended it abruptly.

I'm not sure I will buy the next one.

I give it

I like this game, not as much as the other dark Parables, but I found the two mini games where you had to move things around until they were perfectly lined up frustrating. I don't mind mini games that are challenging intellectually, but having to spend a lot of time getting a line just so makes me want to skip the mini game and then I get annoyed because I can't collect all of the achievements. So, this game is not one I'll keep.

I like the game. It has beautiful graphics and music and there is plenty to do. My only complaint is the parables. I couldn't find the broken up pieces so I could never read the stories which was one of my favs in the past.

This is unbearable, ever since Eipix took over the series the games are worse then awful, they make no sense & have no story line or plot. It is a mish mash of characters that have no real place other then taking from Blue Tea's previous choices & adding them here & there & titles or whatever with no purpose at all.
It gets worse each time, Mermaid was awful, Queen of Sands was a tad better but still awful & now Goldilocks...really mechanical bears, stags, no one knows the detective is coming & they made the detective a female & no brains & nothing whatsoever to do with Goldilocks & the 3 bears other than the title & mechanical bears.
Throw in Midas' touch & Jack who isn't the Jack of Sky Kingdom cuz he's a jerk & alone & no purpose whatsoever & throw in some more names & crappy mini games that make no sense to the story...really it is way past time to put the series to bed & let it die unless Blue Tea takes it back & gets rid of what eipix put out there & redo all with their brand & way of doing things.
The graphics are so bad compared to what Blue Tea has done & used it is cartoony looking, the cursed objects are no longer there, the parable objects are now morphing blobs that have nothing whatsoever to do with the parables & snowflakes, moons, fleur de lis (sorry spelling is not right I know) & the FROGS are just so bad. The maps which were one of the great things of DP are now just nothing & look & show nothing like the DP of earlier.
Eipix is good in their own way, a lot of their games are great & I love them but when they take over a series that has a certain way, feel & look don't mess with it & totally destroy the series cuz you don't know what your doing or how to do it & put something out there that gives the whole series a bad rep now.
It says that Blue Tea is/has a hand in the games still but if they do you can't tell cuz nothing in the last 3 games have Blue Tea's work, graphics, sense, in the games at all.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Eipix just stop already do not do anymore DPs please, you are totally destroying a great game. Give it back to Blue Tea & let them redo the games ya'll did & bring it back to life. If ya wanna hand in it pay them to do it & be on the outside paying for a great thing not on the inside messing up a great thing

Overall I think that the quality of the music and artwork are suburb. I had trouble with the plot being overly complex, but all in all I enjoyed the game and the bonus chapter.

I came to post that I miss Blue Tea doing these games and I see a lot of folks saying the same thing. The Dark Parables series is still fun, but not as fun as it used to be, which is a real shame because these games were wonderful. Still love the HOPs or FROGs or whatever they are called. I found some of the other puzzles to be incomprehensible so I skipped them. Another shame. All in all, I don't regret buying the game, but it will be some time before I replay.

First off, spoiler alert. If you haven't finished the game yet, don't read this. I have to join in the chorus who found this game tedious and slow. The story line wasn't all that engaging and for me, that's important. If you're going to go to the trouble of calling this a dark parable, loosely based on Goldilocks, then the story should hold your interest all the way through. It didn't. Frankly I would have welcomed the appearance of the Craftmaker sooner than later.
Ironically enough, though I mentioned from the get go not to read this if you haven't finished the game -- I didn't. I couldn't make myself finish it up. By the time I finally got to Oleander or whatever it was called, I didn't care how it ended. I just wanted it to end. And I'll tell you an almost sure fire way to insure I won't purchase a game is to have it be some kind of fantasy with fairies and queens, etc. I've had it with that. With all the options of possible story settings surely Big Fish and its developers can come up with some other areas of interest. What I see a proliferation of is horror, fantasy, ghosts, demons and the like. Really, man, is that the best the developers can come up with. I guess I'm in the minority in terms of demographics because I've had it with those themes being the predominant ones. That goodness for Final Cut and Dead Reckoning series and occasionally, even the Puppet Shows or European Mystery. As for Sea of Lies ... a little more attention to having a good ending would help.
Well that's my rant and In any case, I can't recommend this game. Sorry I bought it.

[/b]rainworm & angelfish106 & Penny1942 & judy76073 & bribling & dollyflower & sea_maid, and any other positive reviewers, I agree with you all. I have played hundreds of BF hidden object games and your-all's reviews are what helped me decide to purchase this one and I thank you

I am a FROG fan and this one had quite a few and some were easier than others. The game-play, jump-map, graphics, story-line and music were all okay.
I can usually tell how much I like a game by the way I use the hint and skip buttons and on this one I only used them a few times The SG was useful for finding the collectibles when I was ready to give up

I am giving this one a 4 & 1/2 out of 5 On my personal enjoy-ability scale because I liked it and have most all of the other ones

Played on my desktop PC running Windows 10 with no problems !

A Few Issues, But Still A Great Addition To The Series
Goldilocks and the Fallen Star follows a completely original take on the classic Goldilocks and the Three Bears story. I'm not going to give say much about the plot (I don't do spoilers!), but I will say that you play, as always, as the famous Fairytale Detective in the main game and reprise the role in the bonus chapter as well, which is nice! I don't think they've done that since maybe the Frog Prince. Anyway, the puzzles were challenging as always, the final one in the bonus chapter was almost impossible! I don't know how many times I had to reset it! And I can solve most puzzle games in my sleep! The HOPs (or FROGs rather) were beautiful as always and more challenging than the norm.
But it was the story that really grabbed me! Dark Parables already has a seriously high bar to clear when it comes to story telling, and this one sailed over with room to spare. It was compelling in a way that made it feel less like playing a game and more like I'd somehow wandered into an unknown fairytale both sweet and a little sad, like so many of the best ones are. I actually found the story so compelling I kept forgetting to look for the collectible snowflakes! By the end I was three snowflakes short, oh well I guess I'll just have to play it again!?
Now, as I mentioned in my headline there were a few small things that I took issue with, more like minor annoyances than anything else. I mention them because Dark Parables is such an amazing series that you expect so much more from them than you would from other less well done series. Besides, if I were one of the creators, I would want to know where I fell short so that I'd know how I could make it better in the future. And we all hope Dark Parables will have a very long future ahead of it!!!
So, here are my nit-picky issues: first, the collectible items that unlock the parables and the cursed morphing objects were combined into one collectible item that is a hybrid of the two. This was a little annoying because I really liked the morphing objects and it made it a lot more difficult to find the parables.
Additionally, the parables themselves didn't provide as much depth and explanation of the backstory as they have in the past. Also the graphic appearance of both the parables and the Main Menu were a little sloppy and not up to their usually high standards. This a fairly disappointing.
Second, the mechanical creatures (I'm not going to give any more details about the mechanical creatures than that to avoid spoilers, but you'll know it when you see it!) you encounter late in the game had a very familiar feel to them. It took me a while to figure out why, but I finally realized that they were very much like the evil puppets of the Final Cinderella, in fact one was almost identical! That bothered me more than the parables' issue because it felt a really lazy.
Third and finally, there were three or four glitches while the game videos were playing that caused me to miss some of the dialogue as well as the end of the little epilogue at the end of the main game and the end credits where it goes into the teaser for the next game. That one bothered me the most because it directly effected the game play, and I still haven't been able to get the teaser to play!
But all in all, and even with those annoyances, it is a really great game, beautifully written and designed, challenging, and fun! If you like Dark Parables, hidden object/ puzzle games, or fairytales, you'll absolutely love this one! I highly recommend it!
--P.S. On a slightly related side point, I would like to completely agree with some other reviewers I've read (mostly on Amazon) who took to task those who complained about having to pay for the digital version of this game. Yes, there are a lot of Free-to-Play games out there, and Amazon Underground does have a lot of free full games in this genre, but Dark Parables is at the very least one of the best game series in this genre... ever! (I would venture to say the best series, but that's just me!) And I really don't think $4.99, or $2.99 on sale, (I bought mine during Amazon's Digital New Years sale for I think $1.99) is too much to pay, especially when you consider that some of the earlier games in the series, before Blue Tea handed it off to Eipix, are still only available on PC for $19.99 each! I just think it's a little whiny to baulk at something that's a quarter or less of the price you'd be paying in the older format. But, again, that's just me.
--P.P.S. On a fairly unrelated side point, I don't write many reviews and had originally planned to post this one on Amazon, until they inexplicably emailed it back to me refusing to post it! I'm astonished and stumped! If anyone else has experienced this kind of treatment from them and has some insight into what's going on, I'd love to hear your perspective!

At least I don't lose my profile on this game like I do w/ other new "Epix" games! "Green Tea" you sold out to "Epix". There going downhill! Just like I predicted the so called free games would!
All thats said fun game!
