Guylee and Geebee. I agree. Now you say "clownbus" and everyone is "huh?"
I think Faunasphere sucked them all in. I tried it but didn't care for it

Tia....and for those who need to know....I guess I'm one of the "old fish" you're referring to so I want to say that the above statement is not true. Us oldies stay in contact with each other to this day. We grew to know and respect each other and that lead to friendships. The departure time of so many of our friends is due to the beta of Faunasphere and the removal of our Word Games/Businesses. There wasn't anything left to do here so many left at the invitation of FS NOT "because we could not stand each other any longer!"

Last Christmas starting in late November we had anticipation....purely virtual...nobody expected anything in reality. We were content with virtuality. We had fun. We were creative. Gosh darn we were happy.

Now when I look into the Pond, I do not want to be here. It is full of confrontation, left and right; it razes my creativity! It used to be a place that inspired.

I'm imploring that more of the old fish come back and take a stand. I'm not saying the newbies have nothing to inspire but we miss the old guard. Come back and give this Pond what it used to have...life...joy......and ingenuity!!

lee

Lee, you took the words right out of my mouth....I've been saying this same thing for months now, but it's like moving a stone wall....nothing happens.

Where is the new "fun" forum we were promised when our Word games/Town was taken away from us? It was a closer fun-loving pond back then. Not all this bickering and tempers flying that is present every day. I believe it's because all we have is "discussion" threads and with so many opinions things are bound to get heated.

I have NOTHING against the new fishies around the pond. They weren't here when Big Fish Pond was a fun - adventurous pond and you got to know each other and respect each other. You got to use your imagination!

I could say more as I feel so strongly about this. I LOVE BIG FISH and will always be loyal to the pond. I just want the fun and friendly atmosphere back. I would think Big Fish would want that too.

(IMHO)

Love and Hugs to All who need and deserve them.

Gee

Yeah, I can be a bit opinionated myself. But it's the "diva fish" that are all welcomes at first, then e1 is TOTALLY ignored. C'est la vie! Start your own threads, make friends with others, I love your sense of humor Tia. Esp. the ridiculous (recent) stories about Apple & Gates and co. Fairies, gnomes, trolls, elves, etc. As you say meh-beh! As I say, nyah, nyah, nyah! Just have fun!!!

I guess what I am finding hard to understand is why you can't make new friendships with some of the newer fish. Sure, it is different, but different isn't necessarily worse. I recognize lots of names on a regular basis....guylee, GeeBee, GinaBean, prpldva, purplehaze, princess, tayers, shadowdiana, and many more. Sometimes I follow them around to try to get involved in the threads. (without trying to be a stalker). The people I have named have been great to me, as well as many others I did not name. But there have been many times when I post in a "fun" thread in the middle of a conversation, trying to be part of it, my post is ignored. That's ok, I've got thick skin, but it does make one feel left out.

I can be fun. I have a great sense of humor. Help me learn what the "old days" were like, and I will try to join in and be your friend. I'm sure many other "newbies" feel the same. And I can assure you, if I feel a long-timer has nipped my fins unjustly, I will address it with that person.

The friendships continue to this day and I'm pleased that they have. I value each and every one of my friends.

IV - a fairly good sized fish who has seen a lot of this and been around quite awhile to report it.

now sam remember that wasn't just any s*** that doody lol, and you were the one who shot me out of the cannon with dynamite i had to grab you too, we have had many fun times, i also miss princess posting fishie of the day, the star of the pond, i have been a member going on 2 years now. but like a lot of others i always lurked in the pond afraid to join in until last winter. but i what i always read was fun, just afraid to post because i wouldn't fit in. there are a lot of threads that i stay out of i stay mostly in the i'm offended thread, i don't hardly visit the bfb any more although i don't know why. but the forums will always change, and with change there will always be new people too. although everyone may not agree, we all have our opinions, but that is what this pond is about, diversity, if we all thought alike and acted alike it would be a very dull, boring place.

I'm sorry, but a lot of you may be confusing the "older/bigger fish" with the now-regular/more frequent posters here. They weren't around here when I first started posting, and I'm one of the "originals". Wouldn't know it by my post count though, but that's because I've "stepped out" of regularly posting for the same reason that guylee started this thread. I think that distinction needs to be made.

And ((((( IV ))))), LOVE you too! I SO miss your "Pond TImes" threads, LOVED them! I really miss yummy's Diner!

And while I'm at it, ((((( Smallhaven))))) and ((((( Princess ))))), in case you're watching. And add into that Snugs, Cyndo, "Doc", and all the others! I SO miss you all!

The only constant in life is change. Things DO change, and sometimes on a daily basis. This forum is still pretty young, and it will keep on changing, though some of the old-timers stay and give it continuity. I belong to another forum that has been going for many years, and I've been on it for 9 of them. People come and go according to their time, their real lives, and whether or not they "need" the forum.

I've only been posting for a bit over a year, and I still feel like an outsider much of the time. It doesn't feel so good when the old-timers basically say the new fish don't have as much to contribute as the old ones. Look at Teresa! She's "new", and no one has tried to do more for the Pond!

Me, I enjoy fun and silliness, but I have to admit that I am a rather "serious" person, and I most enjoy serious discussions rather than the fluffy ones. Different strokes. I don't see anything wrong with discussing "non-fun" issues, though. Those who like to do so can, those who don't can skip, like I do most of the morph threads.

I have been here for quite awhile and I like what is becoming of the pond. We have a more diverse group here so it doesn't feel like there are just a few running the show. Moderator have been pretty cool all plus's in my book.

I mostly have e-mail (non-monitered) conversations w/ the people around here, some of whom have been mentioned on this thread. Other than that, except for 2 or 3,

Nobody tried to "run the show", Imdamamma, as you put it, it's all in the minds of those that choose to think that.

going to quote Pocahontas here:

What I love most about rivers is:
You can't step in the same river twice
The water's always changing, always flowing
But people, I guess, can't live like that
We all must pay a price
To be safe, we lose our chance of ever knowing
What's around the riverbend
Waiting just around the riverbend

what I'm saying is, I think people coming and going in the pond is the way it is and it's great that way. If they come back that's great, if not, I don't think that makes the pond a bad place.

Phatkhat said The only constant in life is change. Things DO change, and sometimes on a daily basis. I belong to another forum that has been going for many years, and I've been on it for 9 of them. People come and go according to their time, their real lives, and whether or not they "need" the forum.

Phatkhat basically spoke for me. Life changes or stagnates, that's all. The more I try to hang on to the past the less I grow, the pond is organic so it goes.

In all my years of participating in forums I have yet to see one not evolve (or devolve) to a point of "old guard". Always a share of pot stirrers drama queens. Seems there should be enough room here for diversity. But usually what happens is they (or us in other places) usually spin off and start a new forum, invitation only. Or, RW demands more attention like jobs, kids, changes and they drift away. My closest friends are a group of great women we met on an old ebay forum, like interests being pottery and antiques. We had old guard putting down anything we said trying to help others ID stuff submitted with pictures. We had others squabbling with everybody til it became intolerant. Too much competitiveness to be "right" or top dog. Who needs it. We don't even write about pottery anymore, but our life experiences and support.

I left GZ forum because it got so much fluff, not much about games altho we are all gamers to start. I found that after reading 20 so pages of daily posts and joining in on that or other topics I had no time left to even play my games so it was self defeating. If I'm in a mood for silly I can be the silliest.

What I would like to see here is a separate forum for GAMES. ChitChat has their own forum, then I have to wade thru most of that on the Forum Home to find some game titles without having to go find them one by one on game forum. I mainly look for players who need help in one I've played and reply before it drops off page 5. I guess it is a matter of purpose, come here to give or take. I like to help others when I can. Lately, bedbound for a month I do see a topic of interest and join in, but it can get so addictive again, hardly time to play a game or 2, all these unfinished icons on my desktop with 2 promos IS silly. Bottom line is IS a gamesite but hard to remember that skimming thru the pages. Can't we have both?
