This is not the first time I have seen a thread like this. Purple you should know the answer by know, I know the question is rhetorical. To answer IMO is because they don't allow Him (looking up) to have complete control of their lives if any at all.But others may think they let him(looking down) have any part of their life. Also some can star stare glassy eyed say dude its in the cosmic plan.
Why do people fight it all started with 2 brothers many, many, years ago. I am censored however from mentioning names. You know the rule police are watching, but their initials begin with I and I.

Imdamamma, I don't think that anyone cares if you mention Isaac and Ishmael by name (I assume that is who you are referring to by your comments about it -although that is an interesting interpretation). It is the part that precedes it that I think most folks are concerned about.

Solid annoyance is sometimes a reason enough for personal attacks. People who go to that without provocation, might be weak persons, but especially in sensitive discussions, personal attacks occur easily.

Some people just aren't happy unless they are stepping on someone. It's their whole reason for living. It's what makes them feel important, makes them feel alive to control someone elses feelings.

No one can control someone else's feelings. Our feelings are controlled by us - and by no one else. We can choose to let someone get our goat so to speak, or choose not to. People who have an external locus of control blame others for their pain (or attribute to others their joy or success). People with an internal locus of control take charge of their lives - good and bad aspects alike - and get on with it. I'm not saying that other people can't do wrong to you, but you choose how to react to it. (Generic "you".)

This pond has definitely changed ,so that's why i mostly lurk anymore,unless i can find a thread that sparks my interest.

Actually I have always thought those types suffer from low self esteem issues. They don't seem to be happy unless they are sharing their misery.

thank you friends, i will say this and i should have last night, i wasn't the one being bullied but some one else, but was made personal in the middle of the whole thing! i found that it was too hard to be friends with two people who didn't like each other and had to stick up for the one who was being wronged!

Topside, I never allow myself to personally attack someone in a disagreement.
IMO, personal attacks, name calling, bullying show a lack of intelligent belief in someone's own point of view. If they can't make an intelligent argument, they resort to the above listed attacks.

I too suffer from occasional lapses of intelligence, but if I can't make what I'm trying to say clear, then for me that's end of discussion.

I think it happens more here, because there are no meaningful consequences. In real life, if you want to continue a relationship with someone, you have to be more respectful of them, even when arguing. Respectful disagreement/argument is ok, imo. Here, you may get a time out or banned completely, but there are always other forums, other identities for those who want to belittle, harass or be just plain mean to others.

Phatkhat, you are 100% correct about no one can control someone else's feelings. Poor choice of wording on my part. And a statement I've heard many many times from my husband.
