I think it would be a good Idea if we had some sort of system in place that would show our preference for a gift.i.e.
Slot 1= airship item, Slot 2= unique stamp,slot 3=torch,slot 4=egg.
If friends new that I would rather have the airship item (because it's in the 1st slot it would be easier for lower level players to gift an item that was most needed.
By placing the egg last it could signal that I am feeding another game or hoping John will gift me etc.
THIS IS JUST A SUGGESTION please feel free to comment.

@gtminer

Why not set up a swap? Maybe put a note after your gamename... or find some friends here to make a deal with.

When I did the shard achivement I had a cristmas card and the recepy book on my list.. they are 3 shards and everybody aparently was happy to gift them.
Maybe you could put a couple of that kind in the other slots on your list for "regular" friends to help out for shards.

I have an egg on my list most of the time. I have a feeder game and sometimes my friends at a max level have eggs that they are willing to part with. If someone gives me an egg I make it a point to gift them daily for awhile. What each of us needs varies - I don't need pet food or spaceship items and since I have plenty I have no problem gifting them out. I really don't see the problem. "gifting" is "gifting" It's a wish list - not a demand list. I see no reason to make anyone feel guilty of giving or receiving. Enjoy storming the castle and all that goes with it.

@HennyMarie:

I do have "zz swap" after my name. Most of my friends are max level and wanting airship items. Probably a lot of people are afraid to craft for shards (coin too), so most don't put up zz items. Or perhaps they've finished the shard achievement or are not working on it. But that's ok.

I have 2 zz items on my wish list that I use to craft for shards. Between my friends and puzzles, I have only 5,000 to go to finish it. I am totally out of greens stamps, and once I get 12, I craft an item, so I am perpetually out of it. Many friends gift it to me, and most want an airship item in return. That's ok too.

I have the Unique Stamp on my list for friends who are swapping for the achievement. I have long since gotten this achievement, so it is for my dear friends. The downside to this is a few of my friends gift it more frequently than I can return it. I do keep a record of these friends as once I finish the shard achievement, I'll be taking down my list so I can catch up and return their stamps.

For me, it's a matter of balance and efficiency to achieve the shard achievement, and for the moment, this seems to be working best.

I agree that would be a good idea, but as much as I try to do that on my wish list, the list shows up differently in all my games.

For example in game A, it will show Unique Stamp, Bronze Amphora, Sign of Predator
Eight pointed star

In Game B it will Show Sign of Predator, Eight Pointed Star, Bronze Amphora, Unique Stamp.

I think it shows the item you have most of first, then so on down the line.

This game has its own ideas at times, makes life interesting in the castle.

AuntieRoo, about the only means available to us to prioritize our wishlist is to put a message in our name. Like "Roo airshp plz", or something to that effect.
But what you suggest could be useful, if they ever figured out how to make it work.

How would you all feel about a "fish" list, where you could go fish 5 items a day?

Or maybe a pond of some kind in privatroom

I rarely gift eggs, and even more rarely request them. Same with desirable (for coin) crafted items. But I am more than willing to give ingredients needed for crafting those items, even if I have to buy them in my lower level feeder games. Those in need of coin should keep that in mind, because I don't think I'm alone in that.

I also appreciate a note in your name line letting me know what you need the most..

I'm very happy to give an egg to a friend who actually wants the pet. Especially players just starting out. Gave 1 this morning, in fact.
I really don't think that's the case being discussed here.

I keep an egg on each of three games. Easiest way to support my games. Also have friends that we exchange eggs to support each other. I keep a variety of different items on gift list. If friends need items I try to gift what I have. I Don't expect eggs from everyone. And if I have extra eggs I do gift them. Not greedy or think others are. A lot of people have close friends and we contact each other when we need something to reach a new level or get items that for some reason just can't seem to get.
This is a game to play and Big Fish has been kind enough that they made it accessible to all. Also it allows us to make friends around the world, have conversations, give and get advice and support each other. I enjoy gifting. I enjoy getting gifts in this imaginary world.
Enjoy the game, friends, artwork and storyline. If someone never gifts back, Give them a chance then delete them. Don't assume the worst.
This game is my entertainment. Big Fish has seen me through a lot of pain and loss. MC has brought me so many friends, laugh's and good feelings. GOD Bless them and all of you. TOAD/Otter/MOUSE

I only have 1 friend (newish) who has 4 eggs on their wish list. They were gifting me an airship item per day and every week or so I sent an egg, but they haven't sent me anything for a while now, so I guess they don't need any eggs from me anymore. Still 4 on their list though...But they are level 77 now, so not sure why they don't change it...

As for a trend, I have noticed there is an egg on increasingly more of my friends lists (all levels) and it has increased to 2 eggs in some cases. It seems people must be trying to get ahead in the game faster and faster as time goes on? Or simply just using the gifting as one way to advance in play - since, well...why not? But it definitely seems to be an increasing trend. 4 eggs on a list though, is not a trend I would like to see! Yes, greedy... ETA: I mean a greedy trend, not a greedy friend...no offence to anyone!

But I would not have ever thought of putting 4 eggs up! I would have felt that I wasn't giving my friends enough gifting choice!

At the end of the day, we should all remember that gifting, as in life, is a generosity.

See ya! Moni

I often only have eggs or high value crafted items on my wish list on my Android game as I am a member of a team of people that collects these things to give away as prizes in our weekly games, we also collect eggs to put into a draw where you can also win eggs, this is particularly good for lower level players who need the eggs.

I think the reason so many people do have an egg on their list is either to feed their other games, everyone figured out how much you can sell them for or they trade them.
I have a few in stock, but never knew what they were worth until the puzzles came around and then everyone wanted to know what is worth what.
On my PC game, I try to help lower level people. Sometimes.. it's just someone looking for something.
I really think my life on MC was simpler when I didn't know so much..

I appreciate when friends place, I need..... Or exchange stamps.... Etc,
I try to gift that item

However, one friend has 2 items on list, has request for one of them,
I accidentally sent the other!

Sigh, next time around .....

I have had that same thought often. I really want to gift people what they need the most and it would be really useful if we could each control the order of the items on our wish lists!
