One other thing about Tucson in January - February is that the Gem Show is going on all over town in various locations. It's a HUGE deal here - the population doubles from all the vendors & shoppers & other visitors. So hotel accommodations are booked way in advance. But if you're interested in gems & minerals, it's a fantastic treat! There are exhibitions scattered all over town, from the formal show in the Convention Center to classes to casual markets in the hotel parking lots & lobbies. So much to see!

The other thing is that the weather is wildly variable in those 2 months - as my neighbor pointed out, 17 degrees to 89. Could be beautiful & sunny, could be cold, windy, & pouring rain. All in the same week. Snow is even a possibility, though very, very rare in town.

November is much more reliable, though I understand it's in the middle of the Fall Event & the beginning of the holiday season, & many people are extra busy that time of year.
April is absolutely lovely here ……

The Gem Show sounds enticing. I would like to look for a runestone.

It has been forever since I was in Tucson. I do love the low desert. The saguaros and jumping cholla are a treat to see.

Anywhere I can drive to would be great....Tucson, Kingman, Lost Wages, even Las Cruces or Albuquerque, or San Francisco.

There is a place called Lost Wages ????
I need to go there I'm sure there's a wage packet there with my name on it.I think I lost it in 1971 on a London bus.

LOL, Roo! Lost Wages is a euphemism for Las Vegas! Wages lost there are never to be found again!

Do you guys know how COLD it can get in Las Vegas in winter? I was there over Thanksgiving weekend once & FROZE every time I stepped outside! The wind was like a knife of ice. And that's not even Winter yet! And you have to do a lot of walking in LV, unless you can afford valet parking everywhere you go.

Okay, I really, really want to come where-ever but Las Vegas is the most probable for me, outside of Kingman of course.

Well Ms AuntieRoo look what you have started in this thread!
We ARE a sociable lot and not glued alone in a room to our computers!
Also I see that on some budget airlines the air fare to here is quite cheap?

I could burst into song!

"Over there....Over there....The Yanks are coming......"

Some Yanks may be coming, PTG. However, I haven't saved enough Blue-Chip stamps to trade-in for wings to convert my bright red pedal car into a fire-engine red High Flyer Aeroplane.

Sooooo sad, I am.

Hmmm.I think I should invest in a crash course on the spoken American language I can't wait 'til you all come over here & try to understand Cockney rhyming slang.
PTG can be 'Chief Translater' & I'll get him a certificate to prove it ha ha ha.

Hey everyone, azpotter here, if you are voting on places in Arizona I vote for the Phoenix area. No snow (yeah, these old bones can't take the cold), plus we have the Cardinals football ? stadium nearby! Go Cards! We got Baseball teams, & hockey teams. And I have a little casita with Auntie Roo's name on it for when she & hubby cross the ocean! So count me in!

Phoenix is doable for me. I have family in the area and may be able to stay with them. Just so it's not in the summer!

Roo, I wish so much that I could have been invisible at that Meeting of our Slightly Insane Crew. Just to be able to observe and take down a note or two for future reference especially about PTG. You know how he loves to tease and bedevil Dandy Dog and Mrs Fletcher! See you all back in the Special Room dear Friends.

I wish you all could have been there, although we might have been a bit quashed & I don't want to even think of us all connecting to the electricity.

I should have asked Mrs Fletcher to do the catering, that might have enticed a few more of the Special Room inhabitants to come along & join us.

If Dandydog and Mrs. Fletcher goes, I'm for sure going!
