SPOILER ALERT: Solution to the Doll Puzzle & Disappearing Dress

[Post New]by ganonsbane on Jun 27, 15 12:49 AM
CORRECTION: A DRESS CAN DISAPPEAR

If you pick up the left dress in cabinet, first, & rub it on the moss, it will turn green then land on top of the dress on the pillow & the white dress on the pillow will disappear.

If you pick up the dress on the pillow & dip it in the wine, it will turn red then land on the dress in the cabinet then when you pick it up the other white dress is underneath.

I think, the designers meant for the right dress to be dyed with the moss & the left dress to be dyed with the wine.

Some players are having problems with this puzzle so here is the solution.

1. Pick up the Yellow Dress & place it on the Doll Frame.

2. Take the WING 1/3 off the Pillow.

3. Open the Unlocked Compartment ( top center ). Take the TOKEN 1/3. Pick up the Small Key & unlock the Small Chest that the Yellow Dress was on. Take the CROCHET HOOK. if you look at the CLOTH, you'll see that you need Scissors.

4. Use the CROCHET HOOK on the Lace Napkin on the right then a Needle & Thread will go into the pin cushion at the top center.

5. Take the HEART that was behind the Napkin & place it in the Heart Slot then take the WINGS 2/3 & the STAR.

6. Place the STAR in the Star Slot to find the SCISSORS. Use the SCISSORS on the Pillow then take the LIGHTNING BOLT & FEATHERS.

7. Use the SCISSORS on the CLOTH to cut out DRESS then use the NEEDLE & THREAD on the DRESS. It moves to the Pillow.

8. Move the White Bottle beside the GLUE & take the CORKSCREW HANDLE then move the Green Bottle & take the TOKEN 2/3.

9. Rub the DRESS on the Moss & place the GREEN DRESS on the Doll Frame.

10. Place the LIGHTNING BOLT in the Lightning Bolt Slot & take TOKEN 3/3 then pick up the small WIRE FRAME & place it in front of the GLUE.

11. Place the TOKENS & take the CORNER PART.

12. Place the CORNER PART then put the CORKSCREW HANDLE on the SCREW & take the CORKSCREW.

13. Use the CORKSCREW on the Wine Bottle. The wine will pour in the glass & you'll get the CROSS DETAIL.

14. Place the CROSS DETAIL to reveal the 3rd DRESS.

WARNING: DO NOT DYE THIS DRESS GREEN

15. Dip the last DRESS in the Wine & place the RED DRESS.

16. Pick up the PAINT BRUSH then place on the GLUE & GLUE will be applied to the WIRE FRAME.

17. Place the FEATHERS on the WIRE FRAME & take WINGS 3/3 then place the WINGS on the Doll Frames

18. Pick up the HALOES & HARPS from the 3 compartments below the Dolls & place them on the Dolls

19. Take the SWORD from the long compartment.

Thanks for that, but many of us, after following those steps to a T, find ourselves with a vanished third dress. Another player worked out that dress #3 does not vanish if the second dress is dipped in wine, then used, then the third dress dragged across the moss, then placed on the figure.

That's what I did. I dipped the first dress in wine, and put it on one of the dolls, and then used the moss for the next dress - not the other way round. No problems at all.

Very strange. I know for sure I had followed all of the steps and had all three dresses as well as all three sets of wings. The instant I put the green dress on the doll, the third dress vanished. The hint button points to the far upper left corner of the screen with the glowing area half way visible. I'm stumped. Going to try again with a different profile (if that is successful, some are saying they can't play with another name) and see what happens. Maybe you're not supposed to collect all of the dresses before dressing the dolls?

I'm sorry. I was wrong. There is a glitch that can make a dress disappear. I corrected my original post. Then when I posted the correction, I saw your post.

I apologize.

Thank you, ganonsbane and no apologies necessary. I appreciate you taking the time and trouble to outline all of the steps for this particularly vexing puzzle.

I did create a new profile and when I get to that part again, I'll try to take it slowly and not collect everything at once, just assembling, coloring and placing one dress at a time.

I knew the way I played it the first time, all of the puzzle pieces had been collected as well as the wings, but that darned third dress did a vanishing act before I could dye it and place it. I know I'm a bit obtuse at times, but was hoping the last of my mind hadn't done a vanishing act along with that dress.

Great solution... but .. now that I have the green dress and the last dress disappeared, how do I get it back again? Why should I have to create a new profile and play the whole game all over again to get this to work? Every time I click on "hint", it points to the top left of the screen, but nothing is there. How do we retrieve the 3rd dress?

Unless the game is patched, the only way to replay that HOS is to create a new profile and replay from the beginning.

Open the game. Before pressing "Play", look over on the right to the sign where your name appears. Click on "Players" above it and a screen will open where you can add another player. After doing that, you should be in under another name. Unfortunately, if you do this, your old profile will no longer be available as it doesn't make a list where you can pick and choose. So, it's up to you whether you want to start from square one or wait a few days to see if the game is fixed.

I was staying up to see the new release so I created a Back-up Save last night & played the puzzle 6 times trying to figure out what was happening & a dress never disappeared. I wrote the original solution then saw that the new release was "Emily's Whatever". That was disappointing so I went to sleep.

When I got up & read your post, I tried again. Finally, I saw the Dress Disappear. If I dyed a dress red it went in the cabinet. If I dyed a dress green, it went on the pillow.

First, I dyed the dress on the pillow red & it went in the cabinet. When I picked it up, there was a white dress underneath. Everything was fine so I put my back-up save in to restart the puzzle.

Next, I dyed the dress in the cabinet green, it went on the pillow. When I picked it up there was nothing underneath. I edited the solution & hope that helps.

Thank you again. I'm making my way through the game again and hope to meet with success this go-round.

Again, I appreciate all of your help.

I am another player who is aggravated by this "disappearing dress" nonsense.
I have been playing for several hours and do not want to have to start over just because of a glitch. I love this game, but have found it to have technical issues. Items that are very slender are VERY difficult to pick up, such as arrows, crochet hooks and the like. The game has stalled four or five times at least and I've had to restart. The hint button keeps pointing to the far upper left hand corner, but I've tried changing the size of the display, and still can't get that third dress. After paying $13.99 for this game, I'm not happy. That, and the fact that right after I bought this game, they sent me an offer to buy one/get one for $1.99 collectors editions. Gee, thanks.............might have been nice to get that offer on the game that I purchased just today!

Crap! I'm also a victim of the disappearing dress. This is a long game (I'm about 2 1/2 hours into it) and I'm not sure I want to start from the beginning to get past one little glitch. I hate having to use the hint button because I try to get all the achievements... but when I used it, the hint pointed to the upper left hand corner. That really ticked me off! I know several others have had the same problem. Is there any hope for a patch from the developers to fix this?

I too am going to have to start again for the second time. First time was at the beginning of the game so that wasn't too bad, but this is after playing for about 3 hours. It's a great game but replaying right after playing is really annoying. But I can't leave it half finished and move onto something else....it's just not in me...lol. But I didn't have any issues creating a second profile so for the person who heard that might be a problem, it hasn't been for me. Very annoying though. Oh well third time lucky I suppose.

There aren't any Achievements in this game so feel free to use a hint.

I am sorry to see so many people having trouble with the game and hope the devs do a fix for you right away.

I have been lucky I guess.....not a glitch in site so far, and I am almost done with the main game.

In the Doll Puzzle, I put each dress on a doll as soon as it was made. The second dress got the moss green and the third dress got the wine red.....no problems, none at all.....so I don't think that the order of play as to the color of the dresses makes a difference....but it might be an issue of not using the dress as soon as it was made?

I hope this might help someone....or the devs in figuring out what is going on.....I certainly don't want to make anyone annoyed to here there is someone with no problems in the game when so many are pulling their hair in frustration.

Just wait until you try to play Delicious, Home Sweet Home if you think this game has problems. Good luck on that.

I really don't want to play the game with a new profile. That's quiete boring. First there are technical problems to take the libra sign, now the dresses ... I want my money back.

I have the same problem with the disappearing dress. I don't want to replay the game from scratch after about 3 hours of play, in order to try the puzzle again. What's the procedure to get our money back?

If you dye the dresses as you find them, you won't have a problem. After so many players had problems, I had to play the puzzle 6 times to figure out how to make the dress disappear.

Hi, ganonsbane!

Thank you so much for the solution to the disappearing dress. I followed your instructions and was able to finish the game, and now I'm about to start the bonus chapter.

I really am getting sick and tired of games that dead-end players when they performed tasks in the wrong order because that should NEVER happen, especially in an interactive HO scene. If I hadn't been enjoying the game so much, I wouldn't have bothered replaying it.

Thanks again. It's very much appreciated.

Susan
