Items are called by the wrong name???

[Post New]by Debidawn on Jul 22, 09 11:17 AM
I would like this game more if it didn't keep calling things by the wrong name. It is almost as if this was done in a differnent language and then translated (often very badly). For instance, the list might say "mop" but the item to be found is a broom. Or it might list "screw" but the actual item is a nail. It also mixed up cups and glasses, "darts" was actually a dartboard, and on and on. Is anyone else having this trouble? At this point I am just eager for the game to be finished. I like the graphics and the story is ok, but the mis-named things, and also the items that I have to look up in the dictionary to try and figure out what they are (I have a supurb vocabulary, so people that do not must really have trouble), and the so-called helpful items that I can't really understand what they are supposed to do, is all making me rather less than enthusiastic about this game that I had really expected to enjoy.

I see this often as well as misspelled words and it is most irritating, I will not purchase games that have either. Some of them have had misspelled words in the first few screens! I have also learned not to purchase games before reading the forums as some of them cannot even be solved. It is a shame as this game had truly beautiful underwater graphics.

Agreed! It's just too strange looking for things that are called by other names in US, I quit when I couldn't find "TURBAN"...who would've thought?

I've seen what you're describing in the Russian games. The storylime can be terrific and the grsapics can be stunning, but the objects can be a hoot!

I call it playing a game in "Thinsky" and keep a
Russian/Engish translation site in my tray.

Trying to figure out what was going on in the Russian copywriter's head merely adds another layer o challenge.!!

Absolutely!! I have an extended vocabulary also and as a result was quite frustrated when I had to waste hints because I couldn't find the item. Who would have thought an oblong crate floating in the surf was a TABLETOP!!!! ARRGGHHH!!!
