Hi everyone--I'm thinking there may be a bit of confusion here. I see a few of you posted (after Randy's last post) about being glad he's in rehab. He's not there yet. The surgery was done so fast and different than the first one that Randy's head is still spinning. He's in more pain than last time and is on morphine and Tylenol (for the swelling) and it's barely touching the pain. Anyway, when he got home from the surgery Saturday, he and Donna talked and agreed the rehab center is the way to go. Obviously, they had to wait until Monday to call them, which they did do. Now, they have to wait for a call from the Center once they have a bed available for him. He's also still waiting on physio, who was supposed to be there this week. Well, it's Wednesday and so far no call and no show. Hopefully, they'll show soon because sutures are supposed to come out on the 17th.

That's it for now--just wanted to clarify where things stand as of now.

Ada

Thank you Ada,I thought he was quick to return to post here,I thought he had worked his magic on the staff. But then what I know about PCs wouldn't cover a plain stamp."Bless his little cotton socks "as we say here so much pain just so he can get fit enough to run a marathon next year.
Best wishes for improvement very soon

Thanks for the clarification, Ada. I am so sorry that he and Donna are having to wait on return calls to get everything dialed in but glad to hear he is going to rehab center. My mom had knee replacements done and she, too, had breakthrough pain even with the painkillers. She was allergic to morphine but I know they gave her something else very potent but it didn't work so well. I wish he was not in so much pain!!! My heart goes out to Randy and Donna...

"I see, said the blind man, as he picked up his hammer and saw."
Now we may all be on the same page. At least we really know what Randy on strong drugs is like. <shudder> Donna, our sincere sympathies for the delay, and do take care of yourself. If you give him enough drugs maybe he won't be able to get out of bed and cause problems for you? Sleeping pills? Drug the dust bunnies? Sigh.

latest up date from Dawnna

Randy decided against going to rehab ! ! ! ! ! !
Randy is in terrific pain as the drugs are not being as effective when the right knee was done.
Both knees are up like balloons.
There has been no nurses nor any assistance given since being discharged from hospital. And not any due until Next week.

Dawnna is seeing stars when she bends over or looks up.
Has problems preparing meals, especially when having to prepare raw meat.

One good thing, they were not affected by flooding.

Thank you Margaret for you concern for me along with all the others who post there well wishes here.
I must make one correction about the rehab,, I never decided against going to rehab as it was stated here things went so fast and have been so differant then my last sugery that yes my head is still spining and I am in a terrific amount of pain that the meds barely calm it down so when I arrived home on Saturday due to Donna being so light headed and this would be to much on her we both agreeded rehab was the best way to go , now once that was decided I have been making the calls to the Centers to find out #1 when any nurse PT etc, would be here and am still waiting , PT was to be here this week * I have been doing it on my own*
Again I am not refusing rehab I am trying to get them *the CLSC* to move there A** and find me a bed.
So thank you all for you love and support and keep your fingers crossed this will be setteled soon,
Randy

Thanks for setting us all straight. You know we worry about you and for you and Donna to manage OK between you. That's why we go blurting out whatever we're thinking at the moment. Anybody can be an expert from a distance and we armchair doctors are pushing you up, down, and sideways. I for one will hand in my stethoscope right now and hope that the pros get their act together and start taking care of you properly. Many hugs and lullabies to soothe you to sleep (but no more orders from me)

Oh Randy so sorry that you are suffering. My mum found that her second hip operation was much more of a trial than the first, so I understand.

Maybe Auntie Roo could drop by and kiss it all better!!! or better yet get Jenifer to mail you some of the pills she gets half way up the tree, seems to work for her!!

Hi Randy,

I'm sorry to hear you're having so much pain and difficulties with your knee. Just a suggestion (which you can ignore if you wish) is to put ice packs on your knee for about 10 to 15 minutes at a time maybe every hour or so. I found it helped me a lot when I had my knee replacements.

Hang in there. We are all rooting for you.

Kae

Hi Randy,

I'm so sorry to hear about all your problems, your pain the rehab and everything.
I wish I could help you but the only thing I can do is think of you, pray for you and wish you get that bed ASAP and get better soon.
Keep calling this people every single day, if you don't call they might think you don't need them anymore.
Don't stress yourself with some of the posts, you know better what is best for you and what you can do about it. When I get too many "Why don't you...." I tell them the story of The Old Man, the Little Boy and the Donkey. Problem sorted.
We all want to know how you are doing but leave it to Ada. She is great with her updates, doesn't miss a detail (not even the belly button).
When everything is over you can come to the forum and laugh about it.
Tomorrow is a very special day for the Portuguese and this year we have the Pope to celebrate 100 years of Our Lady of Fatima apparitions. I'll pray for Her to help you.

Try Kae's ice packs in some cases it helps if it doesn't work with you... leave it at least it doesn't do any harm.

Take care. All the best for you and Donna.

TODAY'S (5/16) UPDATE:

Hi all--I know it's been a few days since I have posted but it's only because there's not much to tell. The physio nurse has come out twice now but still no call from the CLSC regarding a bed at the rehab center--very annoying! However, according to the last physio nurse, Randy is making great progress. She said he went from bending the knee at 63 degrees to 85 degrees! So, that's good at least. I believe the staples are supposed to come out either today or tomorrow. I'll let you how that goes when I hear from Donna.

Randy is still in excruciating pain so has not been onto the forum or his game.

That's all I know for now.

Ada

Returning from holiday......I was so hoping for better news. I have heard that knee surgery is one of the most painful one can have....the previous posts seem to bear that out.

I'm sure the knee bending is because he already had some idea of what he should be doing and has been diligent with that......hoping pain relief comes soon!!!!!

I wonder if the great improvement in knee flex is because Randy is getting in practice in case AuntieRoo manages to paddle across the pond with her huge syringe??

Jack7242: Plan A was a failure,I got as far as Dover & after trying to explain to customs there my intentions I was speedily invited to spend some time at HM instition of corrections for an evaluation of mental health.(I tried to explain it was Unnessesary as I'm completely bonkers).I was released after a few days into the hands of my family.
Plan B is now fully formed & awaiting the end of the Spring Event as I plan to hijack the jobless gnomes & press gang them into service for the convalescence of Randy.
I plan to get them to build a raft & row me over to Canada. It'll be a piece of cake to find him as I'm sure by now Donna will willingly hand him over into my care.I wouldn't be surprised if she was waiting for me at the docks.I have a lot of work to do to get him into training for the marathon so must start soon.
The gnomes can make their own way back I won't need them until the Spring Event next year anyway.
