Hi Magicpants,

I wanted to stop by since you've mentioned a technical issue in addition to your review. As a reminder, we do ask our players to discuss tech issues in the designated tech thread, and not the designated review thread.

For quick reference, here's the link to the designated tech thread:

Please post any TECH ISSUES for Sunken Secrets here

I see that you've posted there, and I've gone ahead and provided an answer here.

Thanks for your understanding,

The game could be unusual, but you can stuck on level 16, then when you finally get some levels up same things may disappear, in my case was magic space, wrote to support, got automatic answer, and no response since then. If you don't want get disappointed don't even start the game.

I really like the game, however gaining coins is sooo slow and I am never in a million years going to pay $40 for just 8000 coins. I think you need to review the cost of add ons. I am very open to them and use them in other games, but this just isn't value for money. Instead I will continue to play till I either can't advance any further due to being unable to obtain enough of the necessary currency for required purchases or till I get bored with it and will move on. For me to make a purchase it has to be something that is going to last. 8000 coins will purchase me one piece of equipment, then I would need to purchase more coins for the next. I might be more willing to part with $10, maybe even $20 in one go, but it would need to be a purchase that is going to last me at least a couple of weeks.

Funnily enough, it is really easy to obtain magic stones and pearls, pity I can't trade these for coins.

Really hope you review this as it really does let down the game.

Re: Sorry only worth 2 stars

I was really enjoying the game but then came the time where progress came to a halt.
Despite several others seeming to have a similar problem nothing seems to be being done.

In game purchases are available but not really necessary in my opinion. Progress is initially fairly smooth and constant, retrieving new land by lifting the curse but then comes a time when despite all efforts from the player the game becomes monotonous. This can happen in other games but usually only lasts for one or two levels unfortunately not so in this case.

I would have liked to give it a 5 star review but unfortunately I can only give it 2. With work it may become a 5 star game in the future. I hope so.

A week ago I would have rated the game 5 stars even living through the weekend of crashes. But know this known level 32 issue is irritating. The level 32 issue as far as I can see was reported as far back as Oct 19. It seem this is in direct relation to the upgrade that occurred Oct 5. Someone posted that the math is wrong ending magic increase at 5213 instead of 5250 required to get to level 33. Somewhere in that up grade some windows were lost, trees added to cover windows and increase amounts were changed.

I've been watching players progress through levels and they are almost caught up to me. I hope more people write in as they encounter the dreaded level 32.

TIP- don't purchase cauldron or juicer until after you purchase sawmill. With this level 32 issue there is NO WAY you're gong to make it unless you can produce lumber. You can buy lumber from Panda, but you'll be broke as a joke.

So there's no way to increase magic between levels 32 and 38. Which is crap. Other than that I'm enjoying Sunken Secrets, the game play is a little slow when you have to wait for everything to create and there isn't a lot to do. I get about ten minutes of game and then wait a couple hours before there's enough ready to do to log back on.

What's with the Mages putting their experience flowers in the blind spots created by the exclamation marks above the magic fountains so that you can't find them unless you move the fountain? Seems pretty douchey to me, we can't increase the max magic so all we can do is level up to 38, but the experience points to do that are being hidden?

This could use some improvement, and for the love of cheese add a freakin window to a building so we can increase the last 12 magic points needed to expand to the new area.

Stuck at 5238 needing 5250 and gotta wait 6 levels before that can change? I may give up on this before I get there.

Love the game. Took me away from Township and other games. Got so addicted I even played it in the middle of the night!
But now stuck on level 31 and no where to upgrade magic at 5230 whren you need 5250 is RIDICULOUS!
I spend money on games. I even did on this one. But it is not okay to have to get through 7 levels of NOTHING!
You guys had a great game and now you have lost one more player.
Too bad that someone simply made the level after 4800 , just 4950 (instead of 5250) and we all wouldn't be in this predicament.
Bye!

I couldn't agree more with what's already been said. Lived through the crashes the weekend of Oct 25th. Was confident that the level 28, 12 point issue would have been cured by the time I got there, NOPE. This is all because of the Oct 5th update. So, gee designers, go back to Oct 5 and see what you did wrong. It isn't comprehensible that this glitch was INTENSIONAL, was it? I get it. Time management games are all about time management, but this is ridiculous. It was a pleasant game before attaining 4988 points. Not looking forward to 5238. I was at 5238 and started the game over because I thought I did something wrong! I have spent money on this game and am this close to asking for a refund.

P.S. The last time the official Forum was updated by BFG was at the last update Oct 5. They haven't even addressed the disaster of Nov 5 update that compounds the disaster of the Oct 5 update. Hilarious!

I'm only level 16, but I'd like to post my thoughts on the game. (Excuse my sparse sentences - I keep hitting the word limit and editing.)

It's a bit strange on the story level. "There's a sea witch, and she hates everyone, so destroys everything." No names, no connection to the people or my efforts in the game. The tutorial is a bit much: it doesn't need to pan to each objective. A simple introduction would suffice. The game touches on being repetitive and constrictive:

* There's no pearl (currency) confirmation. The game lags or has no way to get out of menus, and will often end in a pearl purchase I didn't want. Because there's no confirmation, I've wasted over 60% of my pearls.

* The interface to perform actions is clunky. When I'm trying to move objects, I can't see them beneath my finger (I appreciate the sounds that help determine if something can be dropped where it is, but I'd still like to SEE it). I have the same issue when trying to see how much magic I need to perform certain actions, when trying to see what a recipe needs, even planting produce becomes an issue when dragging items. The game doesn't respond unless you hold your finger perfectly, which is hard to see (especially true of rebuilding with blocks).

* The high end magic items in the start of the game are counter productive. There's a cocoa tree that needs 3k magic to be unlocked (level 16, I'm at 2,298 magic), and that was in one of the first areas I cleared. Now, a carpentry (I think) item that previously cost around 1.7k magic to clear, is mysteriously locked until level 31. Why am I clearing an area I can't even make use of? Especially if that item wont be usable until I've almost doubled my current level?

* There's no freedom in the game. I don't get to choose which area I want to unlock or what upgrade to buy: it's pre-determined. The monotony of my tasks and my options make this a long tutorial.

* There's no incentive to be friends. We need some sort of bonus to visit (not just helping the other person). I don't see the point in friends otherwise.

* There's too many magic items. Rather than buying extra, upgrading them by time and amount would be better on saving space. Less clutter.

I'm out of space - will post again later if I find more things! Currently, 3/5 star rating.

I've been playing for a week now and loving it, except the pearls I'm accidentally spending. There should definitely be a confirmation. I spent pearls 10 times ( probably a total of around 15-20 upto now) totally by accident, I could have invested them in much better use. I was planning to buy the starter package but I decided not to, knowing that I will probably spend all those 50 pearls accidentally for things like expediting a fountain to get 4 magic, very frustrating.

I started playing after the 5th October update, been through some trouble with the app, but they have been fixed pretty fast imo. Making the app a little steadier wouldn't hurt though

I love the new 1.5 feature, the alchimist bench. I can transform runes now into the ones I needs, keeps me busy upgrading the houses, while I wait for new tasks and land. would have been a very tedious job with just the trade balloons

so, overall addictive and fun game with some dev-attention still needed.

PS:

a wiki page would be fancy, where people can see things, like:
* what can be unlocked at what level
* ingredients for recipes
* ingredients for upgrades
* costs of products and machines
* production/growing times

etc etc I 'd do it myself, but I'm level 59 now and not willing to start all over again

Joined the game less than a week ago; really nice with even paced progression. Maxed out all the magic after rebuilding everything by level 16. I am now at 2664 magic and cannot progress to the 2700 needed for the blacksmith's building. Visited several other gamers helping and see they are on lower levels than me yet have items opened to them that are blocked to me until level 25, 29 and 31. I am at level 20 now and forced to play farmer, glass blower, jeweler and waste magic on two wizards who make three flowers/shrooms each for experience points; not my idea of fun or entertainment. The witch does not even attack anymore. At least attack something so I can waste some more magic points verses farming. If I wanted to play a disappointing farming game I could simply download several of those daily. As of now I have lost all interest in the game.

I would not recommend this game. It gets you hooked by beguiling you into thinking it is more than a slow repetitious acquisition game. You enjoy the advancement to only be bogged down with the aforementioned slow repetition that every other game promotes.

A Review You Shouldn't Miss

I love this game. I've got my daughter playing with me, but I am stuck. I am on the back part of the island where I have to decurse for 5250 magic, but I've upgraded everything that can be upgrade, so how the heck do you increase your magic now to decurse the next guy if there's no more buildings? Also, it would be kind of nice to have a chat capability or way to ask for things on your island aside from Mr. Panda. It would be nice to be able to request items from your friends. I can't tell you the number of times that I have accidentally hit a button and used my pearls by mistake. Wish there was a way to prevent that. Maybe a prompt asking if it's my intent to use the pearl. I think this game so far is the best of all the games. It allows for continuous play time. You make it easy to earn pearls and magic. I've played township, hay day and I've always stopped playing because it was too hard to make the items you need to keep playing, but this game is like off the chain slamming. I love the fact that you can get your friends to help decrease the time on things so you can keep playing. You make it challenging without making it impossible. In fact, you make it where we can continuously pay without having to wait forever for something to happen before we can play again. Now I do wish we could produce a bit more of the fruit on the trees faster, so we can make our juices. I also wish, the price for the decor didn't increase on like items as you put them down on the game land. I noticed the cost go up for like items as you place more on the board. Since the order board coin amounts are quite small, earning the dollars needed to place decorations is a bit challenging. It makes it hard to purchase things if things cost so much in the store. I have been filling orders like crazy and still cant seem to keep enough coins to purchase high coin value items like the second plum tree or cherry tree. I kind of wish that we had ways to earn more coins so that we could purchase more from the store. Whoever put this game together, kudos. This was very well thought out and you are one of the first games I've played where you make it fun. You make it so fun, that I find myself not wanting to put it down. Now that's what I call a game. I hope that the suggestions are seriously looked at and that the game only gets better. If it continues like this, I will stick with this game for a long time and invite all my friends to do so too. This game is the bomb so far and deserves the highest rating. I am dying to see how things progress as I am only on level 27. I say that because in games like these, as the levels get higher, it gets so ridiculously hard to obtain resources, that I usually end up losing interest or I play only sporadically. I have been looking for a game that I can play that will make me forsake other games and so far this has done that. Let's see how this game compares as the levels get higher. Again so far, I give this game 100 stars, though I know there's only five star rating. KUDOS, KUDOS, KUDOS. I'll be back to tell you what I think as I get higher in the levels.?

Sunken Secrets Additions

[Post New]by cptrosakelly on Nov 15, 15 12:04 AM
I have read a lot of the reviews so far on this game and feel that they were a bit harsh. I have played many games much like this one, but I have always lost interest in them because at the higher levels it was almost impossible to get the resources. Now granted, every game can be improved. That's the reason for our comments and I'm sure the developers are reading these to do just that.

I wrote one review, but forgot a few things that I feel would make this game better.
1) When a friend requests help, it would be nice if the horn showed up on the screen and we were taken to the spot of their request. I find that I spend more time waiting for the horn to show up and sometimes can't find it at all. It would be nice to be taken to the spot that the help is being requested.
2) There are times that I need certain resources, but I don't know what my friends have. So I start going to my friends island, but find that it kicks me out of the game after going from friend to friend a few times.
3) I love the fact that we have many magic producing items in the very beginning. That is one thing I disagree with on other reviews. Though those items take up space, there is plenty of space to put them. Without having the magic producing items as they are, we would be forever waiting to open up territories which would make it difficult or even not worth playing. That's one of the reasons I like this game. I can make magic without struggling. I have plenty of space to place the items, though I would say that there are places on the land that you should be able to place an item that are block from placing like close to buildings or walls. There is some dead space there that should be free for us to place items.
4) I see why you limit what regions we open. I saw a comment stating that we don't have enough freedom to open the regions of choice, but if one region is the pre-requisite for another, opening a region before it's time is kind of useless.
5) I would agree that there were a few high coin valued items given in the beginning that couldn't be opened way later because of the magic level, but it wasn't a show stopper. Waiting till you get the magic needed is no big deal.
6) I would agree that when you get to level 27, game play slows a bit because there is not territory to open up because there is nothing to upgrade to open the next territory. It would be nice to be able to keep the same level of play consistent on each level.

Gameplay at level 27 comes to almost a virtual halt as you then cannot increase magic limit for a further 10 levels, and then you need to buy machines so highly priced its ridiculous.

Everyone enjoys the game up to about level 25-27 then come to the same problems. Developers have not done anything in over a month to sort out the continuous level up only impasse and many players have deleted the game as a consequence.

If you are happy to play these monotounous levels then I wish you luck.

I've really enjoyed the game so far, I'm on level 41, but it feels like the past few days things keep changing. Mainly little graphic animation actions, which I don't really care about, but now you have to use magic stones to upgrade houses instead of iron bars?? That's ridiculous. Makes me just want to delete the game from my phone. Not to mention the ridiculous amount of coins it costs to buy an anvil... What was a fun game is now the opposite. I hope you change things back soon, or I just won't play it anymore.

I love this game! Thank you for making it. There will be problems but I see that you fix them fast. Thank you for lowering the the magic level from 5250 to 5000. That will make for an even better game. I give this game 5 stars.

I just wanted everyone to know that I had a problem on Nov 22 and on that very same day these people got back to me and at least one of my problems was resolved. That is very fast in the gaming world. I was taken though it step by step. Thank you Big Fish. I give you 2 thumbs up on your call back time.
