Pakoombo comments and reviews

[Post New]by bfgFlounder on Nov 23, 09 1:25 AM
Our reviewers haven’t had a chance to get you a review of this game yet. We do value your reviews though, as do many of the other fish in our pond, so feel free to post your own and our Big Fish reviewers will be back to throw in their two cents as soon as possible!

Happy gaming !

Nice clear game play, untimed, very cheerful music and graphics. Since I prefer pretty or eerie to cheerful I'll pass but I think it'll be a good game for someone with different tastes.

I haven't been this amused w/ a Match-3 since Unwell Mel & the Fishdoms. I bet a lot of fishies will be annoyed by the repetition of "Pakoomba" as you play, but I chortled b/c it sounds just like that old 7-Up "cola nuts" guy. The cartoon characters look like Jetsons rejects LOL & I like how they get all excited when you're doing well or cry when you're not. I didn't get too far in story mode b/c every couple min you stop & play another round of Pakoomba, either against some other character or to gather something another character wants. Graphix are clear & bright & the Pakoomba board is humungous compared to Night of the Scarecrows, music is tropical island-y & you will want to turn it down or off b/c it starts out super-loud. Storyline so far had an evil hotelier & an armored ghost, so it looks like fun.

Just b/c I bought my 6th Novfest game today, is going to come out w/ fabulous games for the rest of the month, you watch!

Although the game was cheery, I didn't like the play. I enjoy Match3, especially battle matches, but this one wasn't for me. I enjoy listening to the sounds of games I play, and every time I made a match a deep voice said "Pakoombo". It started to get on my nerves. Plus, there is no skip option for the chat between characters. What they were saying was getting redundant. Also, you have to click in the caption box to have the chat continue, as opposed to anywhere on the screen. I just wanted to play the games and not have to focus so much on where I was clicking during character chats. Sorry, but this one is not for me. Too slow!

I've been waiting and waiting for a good M3. I have not seen any that can top Unwell Mel. I too brought my 6th game yesterday, so, I'm hoping BF doesn't come out with a good one before next month -- . Now, if they come out with 3 good ones, I might have to break the bank and go for broke and get the 2 freebies.

This does look more like a game for the kids. I found it irritating, don't need all the talking just want to play. What I would like is to find more games like Ancient Quest of Saqqarah. Now THAT one kept me playing for hours.

I can honestly say that I really enjoy good Match 3 games. This wasn't one of them. Every part of this got on my nerves...from the constant voice saying "Pakooma" tp the extremely easy game play. This is definitely a game for kids.

There's a Gamezebo review that is worth checking out. Apparently the game does get more challenging.

I'm a match 3 fan but this one is a no go for me.

The graphics are good and the idea of working through a story is a nice touch. But like some of you, I wasn't crazy about all the chatter and especially having to click on the specific conversation bubble each time.

I have loved the concept of challenge play in other games like Puzzle Hero but here it just went too slow. There was no way to speed up the opponents gameplay so I spent time just sitting there waiting for them to take a turn.

I also don't like match 3s where you have to wait for all the tiles to fall before you can make another match. My strategy is to match as close to the bottom as I can to get bonus matches as new tiles fall in place. If you can keep matching new tiles while the first ones are falling, you can get incredible cascades and really rack up points. Games like this one that don't let you do this really frustrate me.

And finally, my personal pet peeve - all the typos and spelling errors made me crazy. It doesn't take any more time to spell something correctly than it does to spell it incorrectly.

OK BFG, some better games please. I've got 6 games on my list to purchase for NovemberFest but I'm still waiting for something great!

Isn't this an old game? It would appear that it is tomorrow's "freebie" at GH, so it can hardly be new! I think I'll pass on this one.

It was released over a year ago on GH, I downloaded it then, bored me to tears but the kids I was babysitting at the time loved it.

Have 7 gazillion coins and can't find a way to spend them.

You go shopping & buy power-ups w/ them.

No one ever seems to like the games I do LOL

I'm the same way. When I go on casual game review sites I always seem to hate most of the 5 star games and like the 2 star ones.

As for this game, I really liked the graphics for it. The way the characters would react when you made matches was cute. The music is good but a little repetitive. The way it kept saying Pakoombo amused me but I can see why it would get annoying after a while. Usually I don't care for match three games but the lack of a timer and those annoying freezing blocks appealed to me.

For the gold that you collect, the way you spend it is at the bottom of the screen near the journal.
