LOVE IT but... messed up my desktop! :(

[Post New]by Poodlebear on Nov 25, 09 5:39 AM
LOVE everything about the game and am just now taking a break to let my brain rest on a tough puzzle I know how to solve but is proving tricky BUT when I excited the game all my icons were shoved off to one side like it had changed resolution and not saved the position. I've seen this on older simple games but am surprised to see it on this. Serious pet peeve of mine cuz I have things arranged just so.

Other than that...

Love it!

It did the same thing to mine. And it won't play right either. It plays but it's slow. I can't seem to figure out what the problem is.

I had a similar problem a few days ago, after playing VV1. I don't know if this is the exact thing that you have, but I was able to fix it by going into control panel>appereance and personalization>adjust screen resolution, and change from low to high resolution. (this is using Vista, I know that sometimes XP's control panel is slightly different). Sorry if this I misunderstood and this isn't your problem.

If the game has a custom cursor, disable it. Hopefully, that will improve things on the speed front. I am going to check out the difference between this version and the one that will be released in the next week or two before buying...

I've had that size annoyance on some older games, I think Virtual Villagers was one of them that weren't coded on exit to return to your orig settings. Played on 800x600 I guess. If I had Outlook Express running in the bg and checked mail, it was all blown out, half the toolbar icons off screen. Icons too. I've spent many hours getting all my ducks back in a row, I'm a stickler for design and organization too. Then I learned if I just restarted pc after a game everything is back to normal. Or, close OEx and reopen it, it was back to right settings.

I am surprised DireGrove does that. Seems on my vista laptop I saw some option setting somewhere to select if you wanted progs to return your settings. Where I don't know, maybe Appearance? I can't find or remember anything on Vista, I just play games on it with a mini mouse. Hate typing on it, got a short KB but a hassle so still do everything else on pc XP. I wish I could downgrade my laptop to XP where I can usually figure things out.

This happened to me only once while switching from strategy guide back to game. I exited the game, fixed my desktop icons and restarted the game. It loaded and played normally, right where I left off.
