Unacceptable

[Post New]by AlexRaluca on Oct 7, 17 4:21 AM
Okay, I have understood the part in which the developers don't want to interfere with people's ways of playing or choosing their names
But they must start to think about all players, not just a few

Now, I am followed by someone named KKK. What?
I am white and living in a country where the only black people are tourists or students. I haven't seen more than 5 black persons in my entire life. Even so, I do not tolerate the idea of intolerance. KKK is offensive, unacceptable, absolutely unfit for a game that is supposed to be fun

The developers should do something!!! If they can't control the choice of names, they should allow us to reject followers like that or give us a way of reporting those types of names

I would second that.

Just a thought, they could be from the Kappa Kappa Kappa fraternity, who used KKK first and tried very hard to have the bad guys stop using KKK.

edited to add: As far as I have heard anyway. Being British and Female I don`t know much about fraternities, but pretty sure there was some kind of legal battle over it, which the good guys lost.

It's also possible they just hit the middle of the keyboard three times to choose a name. There could be be many reasons and no reason.
Using deliberate swear words is one thing, but who knows what combination of letters happens to relate to an unpleasant organisation on one country or another.
Let's not give that small group the satisfaction of assuming those letters only ever represent them.

Thank you, Sayonara
The next time, the player will sell something I will try to think about Kappa Kappa Kappa or Karin Klara Kurnicova.

That's a better interpretation of the name

Thank you for trying TM but K isn't in the middle of the keyboard and that organization is known all around the globe

If a person can randomly type that and not realize what it means, then that person is ...

And to be honest, I would prefer a follow with a obscene name instead of that. I don't know why but for me anything is better than that

You can report a offensive name, just pm one of the mods, I think it takes time to track them down but they can do it, also they might want a screen shot if you can get one.

I am a native American female, part Italian too, and am against the KKK thing too. Sorry but we can use all the excuses we want. The point is everybody knows the most common use of KKK and it is not nice in any way shape or form.
Let's face it hardly anybody ever heard of Kappa Kappa Kappa, but most have heard of the Klu Klux Klan. That would be like saying the word natzi (dont remember the spelling) means something else in China so we should think it's OK. Well, it's not and I do not apologize either.
People using KKK or any other similar name know exactly what the most common meaning is. We know there are naughty words that the pronunciation may have a different meaning in any other language or culture so let's be real here.

And to also add TM is right, it could be anything, maybe it is the players initials, you can't assume the worst, but they certainly did not think through the social aspect of this game and not having any choice over allowing who you want as followers, we should not have to accept a playing style or a name that is upsetting to us on a personal level.

Hello Everyone,

I'm deeply sorry that an inappropriate username has appeared in the game. Based on Sunken Secrets' parameters, there's difficulty changing usernames within the game. I certainly understand wanting more to be done about offensive usernames, and I'll absolutely pass this report on to the appropriate teams. Please don't hesitate to PM me or another active Moderators with any questions, concerns, or comments. I'm more than willing to be a listening ear and to talk with you all. Thank you for your patience and for doing all you can to make others' gaming experiences positive ones.

I don't care if it is somebody's initials, they know it is inappropriate,Removed by Moderator would it be OK to use that name? NO, if they didn't know, well too bad, let somebody educate them. There is no middle ground with that one. I'm not sorry for my abruptness about this. We all know the double meaning. There are many words that have double meaning. We can be considerate, and sensitive. If that is their initials then whoever named them knew what it meant. Come on!!!

The Kappa Kappa Kappa fraternity was started in 1842, the other organization started in 1865, 23 years later.
Words and letters can have double meanings, perception is 93% of reality, unfortunately.

Hello Everyone,

Thank you for continuing this discussion. I'm swimming by to briefly remind everyone to keep the Forum Rules in mind when posting, specifically:

Keep posts family-friendly. Posts that contain defamatory, explicit, obscene, threatening, or offensive content will be removed.

The Moderation Team understands feeling passionate about obscene usernames but prohibits the use of profanity, even when censored. Players of all ages visit the forums, and we ask that posts be family friendly so that everyone feels safe and comfortable while exploring our communities.

Thank you for your help with this.

Removed by Moderator I did try to disguise my word but the meaning was still obvious. So my point was... There are words in our language that are profane or rude, yet in other cultures or languages they are just a common word. like the dog Shih Tzu we all know that the pronunciation does not sound appealing. My point is I will not use the english spelling of that word to be my name just because there are other instances that it is just fine. I may be beating a dead horse by now but I think you get my idea.

Hello Everyone,

I wanted to paddle over again and ask all players to remember the following Forum Rule as well:

Do not discuss moderator disciplinary actions. Moderators will not discuss actions and ask that you do not either. Posts that contain this information will be removed and may incur further disciplinary action.

The Moderation Team wants to ensure conversation focus on game-related topics and sincerely appreciates everyone's help with this. Happy gaming to all!

I have a question
The forum has to be family - friendly (in English) but the game names that might follow us or might pop up on announcements can be whatever people might want to say to others?
Names that can be visible by anyone in different ways and can't be restricted by players or developers are allowed but watch your language on the forum?

Well, I hope that in the future the developers will allow players to choose their followers in some way.

I am really sorry but this started from KKK. And there's only one KKK that has become known across the borders of USA. Luckily, that player has left my game but what kind on family - friendly support will BF give me in the future? Will I have to tolerate other usernames that aren't family - friendly?

Just in case: those are all rhetorical question

Hello Everyone,

Some excellent points have been made in this thread, and I wanted to touch base with the community about the questions that have been raised.

The ability to monitor and change names varies between games. Some games have parameters that make it easy to change players' names while others do not. Whenever an offensive or questionable name is encountered, please take a screenshot of it and contact the most appropriate Support Team. Even if they're unable to enter the game and change a player's username, they'll absolutely pass along the information they receive to the developers.

The parameters of the forums make it much easier more the Moderation Team to ensure content remains family friendly. Our tools give us the ability to review situations which might break the Forum Rules and take action as deemed necessary by the team. We're always open to feedback and providing more insight into matters, so please don't hesitate to PM one of us.

We really appreciate your patience and your understanding. Thank you for your contributions to the forums.

bfgBeruna
